19th century netsuke in kagamibuta (“mirror lid”) with cinnabar lacquer top carved with the character FUKU (fortune) among peony flowers. Essentially the netsuke is a wish for wealth. Very nice work, beautiful patina, compressed dust in crevices, nice old wooden bowl, with rotating peg that serves as himotoshi. Bowl diameter 1.72 inches.

A large antique Japanese Buddhist altar table decorated with black and gold lacquer on wood. Divided into three visual sections, each one held a Buddhist item such as a Sutra, an incense burner, a temple bell, a Mokugyo, etc. Inscription on the back appears to read "Dedicated by Tokuto Eizo."
An antique Japanese Sendai Tansu made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. All original hand forged iron hardware including the Warabite style handles and the stylized Chrysanthemum arabesque lock plates. 6 drawers with a security door that hides 2 small drawers used to protect valuables. Pair of small vases in cloisonné enamel on gilded copper. A beautiful identical landscape is represented on each vase, fish, rivers, birds and flowers on a background of a luminous blue sky. The wires are in silver, the base is in gilded copper. The gilding is now almost completely missing, except on the base. They are both in perfect condition, which for a pair is rare. Height 125mm. Japanese work from the end of the 19th century.

A rare large inscribed heart scarab, Late Kingdom, after 660 BC.
The heart scarab carved in a redish type of sandstone or perhaps a type of red stoneware, glazed with an almost perfectly intact dark green gaze. Made as a somewhat cheaper alternative to the green basalt hardstone scarabs of the period. Finely inscribed on the base with 6 lines of hieroglyphs, tradionally with passages from the Book of Death, but untranslated by us.
