A large Ming dynasty style square form vase (Fang Hu), with abstracted 'dragon' handles. The vase is decorated in under glaze cobalt blue with "heaped and piled" effect. Alternating bands of stylized floral scrolls are interspersed with bands of lappets, plantain leaves and chilong dragons with shou (long life) signs and at the rim with a key fret border. This item was made in the mid 18th Century during the reign of the Qianlong emperor (1736-1795)...

This antique Chinese box would have been used during the Qing dynasty, possibly by a scholar or shop keeper. The bottom of this box has covered compartments for seals, chops,calligraphy brush, ink sticks and a built in inkstone. There is an abacus built into the lid.

The original hinge pin was lost and has been replaced. The box was made with large dovetail joints and from a hard wood of unknown origins. The outside is dirty and I have not cleaned it...

This small mountain peak-form scholar's brush rest is molded with a wave design of scrolls, flowers and ribbons on the concave side. This side is also splashed randomly with underglaze cobalt blue. The base is flat and underglazed, now with dark soiling. The entirety is hollow and a small hole is visible to allow for air escape during the firing. It shows minor wear from use and is in overall very good condition, with no cracks, chips or repairs...

Carved on one side is an old gnarled pine tree growing out of a rocky outcrop. The vase is of a flattened ovoid shape with a rectangular foot that is hollowed to the base. The stone has a white jade-like quality, but is probably a type of serpentine. The tree is carved in high relief with some under-carving, giving it a feeling of being carved almost in the round. The stone is flecked with silvery inclusions and very light brownish veining in a few places...

Part of his garden is visible in the background and a six-character poem is seen penned on the upper-left...

1800s

The even-toned stone is somewhat translucent and carves on both sides with a flower basket design. It is reticulated with rather simple carving and incising to produce a dense and almost abstract design. The condition is very good with no chips or breaks. There is a natural fissure occurring in the top of the basket in the center of the stone.

Early 1800s

The entire surface is enameled and painted very skillfully with designs based on Indo-Buddhist mythology. These wares were made of fine porcelain, probably in Jingdezhen, and were exported to the Kingdom of Siam (Thailand) where they were primarily used by the king and his court. The enamels are of a famille rose type, thickly applied, and in the case of this fairly large bowl, very well-painted in the Siamese taste...

An outstanding piece, this scholar's rock in huanguali with finely carved scenes all around the mountain. This piece may date from the Qianlong period, but not later then early 19th century. It measures: H 22 cm, W. 14 cm, D. 10 cm. Condition: excellent, with a beautiful soft patina. A small opening at the top may heve been used as a brush holder.

During is height of popularity in the Qing Dynasty, when one went to the opera, souvenir dolls were often purchased. This pair of Chinese opera dolls is probably the oldest that I have seen. Both dolls are in fragile condition. They are mounted on separate stands which may be of the same age as the dolls. They have been together for over 100 years and I am not willing to separate them

A good early 18th Century bowl decorated in underglaze blue on the inside with a river landscape and with a prunus pattern border. The outside is decorated with floral panels against a powder blue ground. This item was made during the reign of the Kangxi Emperor (1662-1722). A beautiful Ming Wanli blue and white large kendi (pouring vessel). this kendi has globular body with tubular neck, disc shape mount and globular spout, decorate with under glaze blue galloping horse, flower spray and blue base continuous flower motif on the shoulder, Buddhist symbols and peach motif at the spout, neck with raised leaves motif.
Kendi is in very good condition, no chip, no crack, no restoration, porcelain with good glaze.

A very rare sample of Ming dynasty Imperial Chenghua mark and period blue and white palace bowl, rounded side with deep center and glazed base, bowl decorated with under glaze blue of fine flower motif at exterior, base with six character "Da Ming Chenghua Nian Zhi" reign mark with double ring and of the period.
Bowl is broken into several pieces as its found and re-attach, still a very good sample for Imperial Chenghua piece. Size: 12.5 cm diameter, 7 cm height.

Decorated outside with chrysantemum scrolls, plantain leaves pattern round the neck, classic scrolls and a border of early lappets between two bulbs, and other a border early lappets on the lower base. Unglaze base. Size : Height = 15 cm, Diamater = 12 cm. Period : Yuan Dynasty 1279 - 1368 Condition : professional restoration to the broken part , missing spout and handle.

Elegant yuhuchun shape with green celadon glaze covering foot-rim and base except for broad firing ring burn red. Height = 26.5 cm, Diameter = 14 cm. Period : Song Dynasty 960-1279, Longquan Kiln, Zhejiang. Condition : professional restoration to the missing neck/upper part, no other damage.

These late 19th century Chinese Famille Rose 8 sided ceramic bowls with fitted wood bases are 3 ¾” high (with base is 5 ¾” high) and 8” wide. On the outside of the bowls, there are images of 8 young ladies playing traditional musical instruments. There are floral designs on the inside. There is a red honorific Yung Zheng mark on the bottoms. One bowl has a 2 3/4" long hair line crack inside and a small chip shows on the outside rim. Please see image 4.

These early 20th century Chinese carved ceramic turquoise (or robin’s egg) and gold seal boxes are around 1 3/4" high and 2 13/16" wide. One top depicts two women in a room; the other depicts a family in their garden. Peach trees, lucky bats and clouds are carved all over the bottoms. The honorific "Great Qing Dynasty Qian Long made" are stamped on the bottoms. Aside from some loss of gold pigment due to their age, they are in excellent condition.
