DESCRIPTION: This wonderful Chinese bamboo basket is one of the nicest we've ever offered. Pleasing in form and expertly handcrafted, the entire basket is tightly woven from bamboo strips in various sizes, forming a pleasing design. Chinese characters are found inside the removable, cone-shaped lid. Three long bent bamboo strips form the handle. Very attractive and in excellent condition. DIMENSIONS: 24" high including handle (61 cm) x 18" diameter (45.7 cm).

This traditional tribal comb would be worn for festival by Yao ethnic minority woman of Southern China. The comb was carved from sections of bone which are held together with a twining technique. The bone sections are tatooed with traditional Yao design pattern. The comb alone is 5.5 inches long and 3 inches wide. The combined length with the pompom and tassels is almost 12 inches long.
Chinese canton enamel box with slightly domed lid. The sides and top finely painted with scholars in landscape setting in famille rose palette. Interior with turquoise enamel. Condition: good - considering the delicate nature of enamel, rim of box with two very small retouchings and and sides of lid with three tiny enamel losses and few stress lines. DESCRIPTION: A long, six-sided Chinese ink stick with nicely detailed dragon and phoenix curling about the surface. Short, impressed Chinese inscriptions are found on two sides. One of the four treasures of the scholar's studio, ink sticks (or cakes) would be carefully ground by the scholar and mixed with water on an inkstone to paint calligraphy or scrolls with a brush. This black ink stick is in good antique condition. DIMENSIONS: 6 1/2" long (16.5 cm) x 1 1/4" diameter (3.2 cm).

This very well carved Chinese export ivory jewelry box is a mid or late 19th century product. Three dragons surrounded by lucky clouds are carved into the top of the box. Two dragons appear on the front of the box and one on the rear. There is a mirror and removable tray inside the jewelry box. The tray and bottom of the box are lined with dark blue velvet. The box has four legs. Aside from an old repair near the lock and one small age crack on the top, it is in good condition...

Big "Bianlian" Nuo mask of Tudi Gong, the "God of soil" and grains, essential in an agrarian country. He is the main actor in Wunuo cult, usually represented with a smiling face, and long eyebrows and beard often missing or replaced later; when missing, we can see holes where the hair was fastened.
Bianlian means face changing: this mask has an articulated jaw which could be animated by the wearer...

Chinese late Qing dynasty Guangxu period multi-lobed wedding collar embroidered in polychrome silk thread with flowers, birds, insects, and small animals on a silk ground. The collar is composed of two layers of streamers, with shorter red narrow streamers lightly stitched onto longer white streamers which terminate in ruyi heads. This is a Ming dynasty small ribbed longquan dish. It stands on a shallow recessed footrim showing the orngish burn ungaled recess. From the foot rim, it everted stright upward with a ribbed outer body. In the center of the dish, there is a faint outline of an impressed single stalk of lotus flower.

The seated lion modeled with open jaws, revealing their fangs and tongues, the bodie richly decorated with molded manes and breasts and legs, while their heads are applied with brown curly hair and eyebrows and their ears are veined as leaves.
