A Japanese porcelain dish depicting two figures in a garden. The moulded dish has a shaped edge dressed with an iron slip. Late 18th century or beginning of the 19th. A shaped dish with a similar subject is illustrated in 'Japanese Porcelain” by Soame Jenyns, Faber & Faber, 1965.

Pair Japanese Nabeshima Porcelain Dishes with underglaze Blue Thistle with Red flowers, Ca. 1890, Meiji period, 4 5/8" diameter, 1 1/4" high, very thin crispy porcelain dishes with delicately decorated with Thistle plants, with fine exact comb high feet and double Peony floral sprays on 2 sides under the dish. One(1) dish is glued together lower area about 2 1/2" long on the wind swept Thistle decorated area. The other dish is in fine condition without any damages.

Tiny repairs of gold glint along the rim of this misshapen wan-gata bowl from the Utsutsukawa tradition of Nagasaki. The bowl comes with a silk pouch enclosed in an old wooden box. There is a kutsuki on one side, where it adhered to something else in the kiln. The bowl is 12 x 10.5 x 6.5 cm (4-3/4 x 4-1/8 x 2-1/2 inches) and is in overall fine condition, dating from the 19th century.

19th century small ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) carved in the round with a pierced design of a butterly by a blooming peony. Wonderful carving, excellent detailing, pleasant patina, in great condition. Height 3/8 inches.

This early 19th century Japanese Imari vase is 10 ½ inches high and 4 ½ inches on the widest part. The top of the vase had been cut and polished. Two peony blossoms were painted over the lower part. Three small circles on the upper were painted pine, plum blossom and bamboo. It has a green “Fuku – Happiness” mark on the bottom. Aside from some faded color due to its age, it is in great condition.

Antique uchishiki, Japanese alter cloth, embroidered on silk satin with Chinese theme, “The Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove”. Probably from late 18th to mid 19th century. 26 3/8" x 25" (67cm x 63 1/2cm).

Condition: This is a beautiful antique textile even with some obvious damage and wear, still solid with a thick cotton backing. The wear is seen particularly on both ends of the design. This quality of needle work is seldom seen.

Shiny and vivid Aka Raku (Red Raku) Chawan, hand molded during the Meiji Period around 1900. The chawan is signed and the wood box is included, too.

Some parts of the chawan were intentionally left unglazed (white parts around the foot - no cracks!) to generate imperfection.

This is an Early 19th Century Netsuke depicting a Monkey sitting astride on a bamboo tree while hungrily eating one of its branches. Large uneven himotoshi, common of netsuke made during the Edo period of Japan. Netsuke measures 1.28 inches (3.2cm) wide, and 2.55 inches (6.5cm) tall. It is in excellent condition as shown in the posted photos.

Antique Japanese painting of a Goju-no-to, five storied pagoda of the typical Japanese Buddhist temple. The pagoda is decorated using Kanji with a repeated sutra and other passages. A unique early Japanese Ikebana Basket with a rich camel colored bamboo entwined with Wisteria vines with a single, beautifully twisted and gnarled Wisteria branch. Rice bag made of fragments of hand-spun cotton with stripes, checks and katazome (stencil-resist-dye), all vegetable indigo and brown dye. The cord is hemp. The square cloth in the bottom is fine and beautiful katazome with "two cranes facing" motif. Kome-bukuro was used when people dedicated rice to temples or shrines. In excellent condition except for a few holes and mending patches. The latter half of the 19th to early 20th century. W:57cm, H:28cm, Bottom:30cm x 28cm.
