This is Kagura-screen used in Kanto area for the Meiji period(1895). As for this, cotton spun by hand is used. This is a pattern very happy that a crane flies over the sea glistening with the morning sun. As for this, Tsutsugaki where a crane flies boldly in the morning sun is impressive. This has damage and a stain of the aging in several places. And there are several places of small repair traces. And it is in an in total regular state. This was released by big Tsutsugaki collector of Tokyo...

Japanese antique small tansu chest for personal use. Made all of kiri (paulownia) wood. This tansu has 3 large drawers of different sizes and 2 small drawers in the lower right hand corner. Iron hardware includes pierced corner bracing, round lock plate and drawer pulls.

The frog (kaeru) is associated with luck and wealth. Kaeru means both "frog" and "coming home" in Japanese. This extension of meaning is due to the ability of the frog to return each year to the pond of its birth. A gong in the shape of a frog can thus sometimes be used as a door hammer or to protect a house.

An antique Japanese tall Kyushu Choba Tansu (merchant chest) in 2 sections made of Hinoki (Cypress), Keyaki (Zelkova) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. Original hand forged iron hardware including the Warabite style handles and the double bar lock plates. With 2 pairs of sliding doors and 8 drawers, it has plenty of room for organizing and storage. Furoshiki (wrapping cloth) with tsutsugaki auspicious motifs of seven treasures (takara-zukushi), which is made of hand-woven cotton and vegetable indigo dye. Tsutsugaki is paste-resist-dye and colors are added with mostly pigments. Treasures are: sacred jems, cloves, a lucky mullet, a hiding hat, a coat, citruses and so on. It is made in Kyushu in Meiji period (1868～1912)　In good condition except for three mending patches and some tiny holes. 94cm x 124cm

Unusual 19th century Japanese carved wooden head of rakan - one of the 16 (sometimes the number is given as 18) initial disciples of the historical Buddha.. Was carved and, judging by patina, most probably used, as the top of a votive statue. Wonderfully captured facial expression, beautiful patina. The bottom of the post is branded with the mark of the workshop where the piece was carved. Height 3.71 inches.
