Bronze, with dark reddish-green patina. China, Northern Wei or Sui Dynasty. Height: 2 3/4" (7 cm). Abrasion due to great age, otherwise good condition. An extremely rare object.

19th century boxwood netsuke of the Zen Patriarch Daruma sitting in meditative pose enveloped in his monastic robe with cape. Great carving, fantastic face, beautiful flow to the lines of his robe, superb staining and patina. Differently sized himotoshi lined with light and black buffalo horn. 19th century lacquered wood netsuke of a standing boy wearing in shishi head piece and beating a drum with strikers. Wood is lacquered in Negoro style - red lacquer over black, so as it wears the black and later wood start showing. Very well carved, excellent detailing - see the ferocious mask, old loss to the tip of the left ear, beautiful patina. Does not stand on its own, but hangs well. Height 2 inches.

Antique Chinese Qing dynasty 17th- early 18th century blue and white porcelain incense burner - censer, finely potted, with convex exterior walls rising to an everted lip, supported on a short foot.

The exterior is painted in underglaze cobalt blue with a central band of scrolling pattern divided by four archaic two headed kuilong heads and bordered by bands of stylized flames.

A very special and rare stamp seal, carved in the shape of a high tower with 4 turrets. The base engraved with a seated humanoid figure beside a tree. Drilled at the top.

Antique Japanese tall rectangular form basket for ikebana flower arrangements. Made of split bamboo woven tightly in a vertical zigzag pattern. The corners have larger sections of bamboo that end in four feet. The bamboo has been left it's natural color and acquired an attractive patina over time.

Antique Japanese lacquer suzuri bako (writing box) and matching large stationary box inspired by Korin Ogata of the Rinpa School tradition.
