19th Century, nicely hand-carved Ebony Netsuke depicting Ama, the Diving and Fisher Girl, standing with a basket on her back, accepting the advances of the amorous Octopus that is enveloping her legs with its tentacles and placing one of them in her private parts. The netsuke is unsigned. It measures 0.75 inches (1.9cm) wide, and 2.68 inches (6.8cm) tall. It is in excellent conditon, as may be seen in the posted photos.

Japanese keyaki and persimmon wood choba tansu, beautiful keyaki grain on front with a frame that is edged in persimmon wood, there is a compartment with sliding panels made of solid burl wood with a stepped shelf on the interior, the safe box has a key and two small interior drawers also with keyaki wood fronts, inside the safe box is a very hidden secret compartment (detail shows writing on hidden panel door). Meiji Period. Size: 32 3/4" high x 32" wide x 14 1/4" deep.

Diameter approximately 13 cm. There is a soft chip at the rim. In good condition.

The size of bowl: 6 7/8" Dia x 2 1/8" Very unusual Japanese Ko Imari Porcelain Namasu Bowl. The bowl has the design of flower motif in the center with bamboo leaves around. The side wall has two windows of phoenix bird and tropical plants. Bewteen them, gold Karakusa and spider mums design in gold and red. Very well painted. The shape of bowl is also nice with curving up. Outside has blue underglaze design. Good quality bowl. It is nice size bowl...

19th Century, Boxwood Netsuke finely hand-carved and engraved boxwood netsuke depicting a squatting Karako (Chinese Boy), wearing the customary Chinese garb, holding a Hyotokko mask with both hands. Signed Yoshiharu on the bottom of the netsuke. Nice compact form; great expression and form details; nice mellow patina. Netsuke measures 1.35 inches (3.4cm) wide, and 1.48 inches (3.8cm) tall. It is in excellent condition, as you may be able to see in the posted photos.

Antique Japanese unusually small kannon biraki (hinged doors) tansu chest made of kiri (paulownia) wood. The top portion of the chest opens to reveal a compartment with a single shelf. The bottom portion has two exterior drawers. Elaborate iron hardware is like that of a larger kannon biraki chest and includes heavy hinges and cross bracing on the doors with an ivy leaf mon (crest).

The blue and white porcelain made in ARITA erea Japan had been exported to Europe and much prized among the people, instead of Chinese porcelain. They are called as IMARI from the name of shipping port. We call the works produced in the EDO period as Ko-Imari meaning old Imari. This piece is supposed to be produced on the last EDO period.
