A Chinese blue and white stem cup and cover, painted in the Ming style with the Xuande mark but 18th century period.

A good condition Five dynasties yue green glaze ewer, rounded side with up raising spout and curve handle, ewer body with vertical ribbing, covered in good green yue glaze.
Ewer is in good condition no chip no crack no restoration, minor fritt at the tip of the spout.
Size: 18 cm height, 15 cm diameter spout to handle.

DESCRIPTION: In Burma (now called Myanmar), one of the most honored and beautifully decorated ceremonial pieces was the box that held the many gold lacquered sheets of Buddhist manuscripts, called the Kammawasa. These sheets are read aloud at monastic assemblies, and topics covered could include formalities for the ordination of monks and the bestowal of their robes, the consecration of an ordination hall, celebrating the festival of the full moon, or other such instructions...

This trumpet has a dragon head that is formed from sheet brass with overall repousse work to create scales and a mane. The horns and the long whiskers are separately applied. A long flat tongue of sheet brass or copper extends through the mouth. The dragon head is joined to the tapering trumpet with a bulbous silver repousse element having bands of silver leaves on both sides...

This antique copper gau would have been kept in a prayer niche in the home and would be worn as an ornament for festival. In place of the Tsatsa (clay figure), there is a Tsakli. It was common practice to use a tsakli (small picture card) to represent the religious item which would be placed in the gau, when time and money became available. The original written talisman remains inside the gau also...

This is a perfect Sung Yuan lotus bowl with the incised flora pattern lotus petal bowl, good color and glaze shine, with the natural crazing, without any crack or repair except small chip on the foot rim

This is said to be a Guan type brush washer of Southern Sung period, probably from Guan Kiln as the paste is more porous.

This is a finely potted and painted late Qing early republic vase with calligraphy on the side.

This solid Japanese Meiji bronze elephant is very heavy with skin and muscles modelled to a high standard. The elephant looks very animated and was obviously created by an artist of great talent. It is marked on the base with what looks to be a slightly rubbed Seiya signature. There is no damage to this piece.

This high relief silver repousse prayer cylinder is mounted on a wooden handle with silver mounts at the top and bottom. The repousse displays three seated Buddha images among dragons and other Buddhist elements. It is topped with a silver umbrella and ball-shaped finial. This figure of a guardian foo dog is of a natural rich brown unglazed ceramic with white glazed eyes, eyebrows, teeth, claws, and a line of spots on the spine. It is very well-modeled by hand with a highly expressive face and jaws. The chocolate-colored body is also offset by a black glazed mane and tail. Antique Japanese small iron and mixed metal damascene vase, design of grape vines on shoulders and base, two reserves one with a scene of birds and flowers the other with huts near water and fishermen in boat, neck is decorated with chrysanthemum mon, underside has two character inlaid chartouche, with the name, Asai. Rare detailed and finely painted Dynasty Chinese rose medallion porcelain plate: with the central design of birds perching on blossoming branches amid rocks while others flying around: together with chickens playing on the ground: surrounded by flowers and vines in cartouches, Mid-Qing dynasty. Size: Diameter of this plate is 8 1/2 inches. Condition Report: Very good condition.

1800s

This serpentine stone displays a yellowish buff color against a mottled blackish tone to produce a mountainous landscape effect. It is tubular in form and set upon 3 carved feet. It has a soft polish on the both the exterior and interior. The base is unpolished and exhibits its original carved surface. There are several small chips and evidence of wear around the rim, otherwise it is in good condition. It was likely used to hold short incense sticks...

Japanese Arita Blue and White Dish. Decorated with unfolding scrolls amongst floral sprays. L17thC/18thC Diameter 18.0 cm. Condition: excellent, no chips, cracks or restoration. Minor firing flaws.

Pair of Small Blue and White Ko Sometsuke Dishes. Decorated in the centre with two birds and branches, the rim with butterflies. Chinese Tianqi C1621/27. Diameter 14.6 cm. Condition: very good, some fritting to rims, chip 1.5 cm to inside footrim of second dish. No other chips, cracks or restoration.

Pair of Japanese Imari Plates, decorated in the typical palette. L17th/18thC Diameter 21.5 cm, Condition: some wear to central gilding, no chips, cracks or restoration. Blue is not as bright as in images.

Two very rare and large Canton enamel vases on the original wooden stands with lovely rich patina and bright well painted scenes of the Chinese goddess Chang'e. These quatrefoil vases enables the owner to change the scenes at will by merely turning the vase to a different panel. This is rare to find in Chinese vases of the period. These date to the late 19th C. One of the stands are inscribed 'China' with a backwards 'N' to help authenticate period...

Chinese antique bamboo sewing basket, interior design with character "Xi" and exterior with " Fu", Qing Dynasty . Size: Diameter of the basket is 13.25 inches and it stands 4 inches high, in very good condition.

Japanese vase with a view of a temple near a lake within the mountainside. The way the bamboo is painted and the serene setting is seen in similar pieces done in Kutani and Kyoto wares. Japanese Satsuma vase with various scenes from different periods in Japanese history and one view with Chinese scholars or sages. The views are framed with a motif of flowers and fans. Bottom of the vase contains a name that is impressed in the clay. The top part of name is unreadable, the bottom contains the name Satsuma ware. Age: Taisho Period. Size: Diameter: 2.75"

This yatate, or traveler's pen case, is made of wrought brass, and has a long tube to hold the brush and a deep pot for the ink, which would have been saturated in a cotton wad. The lid snaps snugly over the pot to contain the ink, and a tab connected to the lid covers the end of the tube that contains the brush. A logo is inscribed on the tab in the form of a hiragana ya beneath a roof-shaped mark...
