Antique Japanese mizuya (kitchen tansu) in two sections. The frame is made of hinoki (Japanese cypress) wood with a very smooth grain. Sliding panels and drawer fronts are made of keyaki (elm) wood with dramatic grain. The top section has a large compartment that runs the width of the chest and is covered by 4 sliding panels with keyaki burl wood. Exceptional and very important Edo period chawan by legendary master potter Hirasawa Kuro (1772-1840), a famous Samurai and potter who produced tea ceremony ware for the Tokugawa clan in Nagoya. His work is rare and mostly exhibited in Japanese museums.

A set of five ceramic tea cups with box used to serve sencha produced by Otagaki Rengetsu (1791-1875). The cups are in the form of lotus leaves and the exterior of the cups contain an inscription by Rengetsu, which generally translates: The willows, not in its disarrayed form, the branches not touching, yet branching out into the world. Age: Late 19th century. Size: diameter 2.3" height 1.5"

From a large collection of Edo period Nabeshima and Hirado-ware, this intricately crafted incense burner in the shape of a lantern features two intertwined dragons dancing around the base...

The pistol has an octagonal russet iron barrel with flat sighting plains on top and bore of 3/8". The dai stock is of a hardwood and brass jiita arquebus's firing mechanism, sakura ramrod intact. Good condition.

An antique Japanese Kansai 2 section tall Todana Tansu made of solid Keyaki (Zelkova) and Hinoki (Cypress) woods. Hand made iron fittings and hardened wooden nail and iron nail construction. Traditional Japanese joinery throughout this lovey chest. Shunkei style lacquer reveals the beautiful grain pattern which evokes visual movement. Side wood supports typical of Kansai region tansu.

A superb pair of hanging scrolls depicting a group of Japanese beauties set in two seasons, spring and summer. The scroll is mounted in fine damask silk in the san-dan style. Unusual high quality scroll ends with reticulated scrolling vine silver covers.
