Needles were a valued woman's sewing tool and were carefully secured in a special case hanging from the belt. This Chinese silver needle case has 6 sides, each with a delicate repousse floral design. The bottom is weighted with a small turquoise and larger amber bead.

This is japanese antique idigo dye cotton boro long noragi Shonai sashikoused in the Shonai region of Yamagata Prefecture during the Meiji period. (1868-1911) The indigo dyeing on the back is also very charming. Thick hand-spun cotton cloth is layered and sewn with Sashiko stitching. 　 Enjoy wearing it. Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Double Happiness Ginger Jar with fitted Rosewood carved top, Ca. late 1800's, 10 1/2" high with wooden top, 9" wide-widest part, 4 1/4" diameter-top rim, underglaze blue Double Happiness with Snow Pea flowers and vines, typical Straits culture design in China. The condition is good, very tight star shape glaze hairline on the bottom in the center about 2" to 3" wide, very old chip inside the top rim, this jar rings like bell.

This set of 4 matching Chinese toggles were hand carved from animal bone, probably the vertebra. Each side is carved with an identical design which continues around the side. They are well aged and show both wear and usage. As artifacts from the folk art culture, they were probably carved by the person who intended to use them to secure his personal items. Each piece is approx 1 inch in diameter and .5 inches thick.
