Hard to find, 19th Japanese articulated spiny lobster. Loss case method of solid copper. Each piece is meticulously cast and fitted with all 10 legs and long antenna. Fully articulated and movable, the lobster if fully splayed for viewing on a complex mounted stand.

A centerpiece agate stone bead from over a thousand year

The large seal of the hemispheric form and probably Parthian or early Sasanian, so like 0-500 AD, could be earlier though.

Done in a fantastic stone type - black with a spiders web of lighter colours. Attractive in hand. The shape of this stamp seal was probably invented by the Neo-Babylonians and continuued to be made in the near east until the end of the Sasanian period. The base is engraved with an unidentified cruciform symbol.

This is a magnificent greyware vase or hu from ancient China. It dates to at least the Han period (209 BC- 220 AD) but is likely from the Warring States period (circa 500 BC). There are soil encrustations and remnants of root fibers on the surface. There are no signs of repair or restoration. There are taotie handles scultped in the clay to mimic ritual bronze vessels of the same period. This was done because often bronze was too expensive so likenesses were made out of pottery...

Very interesting Roman pottery oil lamp with a Roman empress or high born lady on the discus, ca. mid 2nd. century AD.

The lamp can be dated quite accurately since the hairstyle of the lady is from the period of Hadrian-Antoninus Pius, so no later than 170 AD.

Size: 12 cm. a large and quite massive lamp.

Condition: Very nice and intact, with traces of corrosion.

Description: Fine antique Persian copper bowl, late Quajar period, a band of engraved Persian poem from poet Hafez fallowed by geometrical design. On the base a horse in sitting position with a bird with open wings on the horse's back. This type of bowls was carried by people so every individual had his own bowl and was used for drinking water or wine. Measurements: 1 inches high and 3 3/8 inches in diameter in good condition. A gilt copper repousse figure of Garuda, finely worked with outstretched wings, his hands in the Karan mudra or demon-expelling mudra. He wears long necklaces hanging from his neck, with matching arm bands and wristlets. The front of the figure with gold gilt, blue, green, and orange pigments with black and white pigments for the eyes. Garudas are protectors and enemies of the Naga or serpents.
