Antique Chinese large cabinet. Beautifully lacquered with scenes of birds and flowers in gold on a red lacquer ground. Large doors open to reveal a compartment with two shelves. The top shelf has two small built in drawers. The sides of the cabinet are lacquered black. Dates from the 18th century. Size: 70 1/4" high x 44" wide x 20 1/4" deep.

Antique Japanese 2 section isho tansu (clothing chest) from the Nihonmatsu area. Made with keyaki (elm) wood with dramatic grain and original deep reddish orange translucent lacquer finish. The chest is made up of four large drawers and a safe box in the lower right hand side which has two small drawers behind a locking safe door (with key). Lovely iron hardware includes warabite shaped drawer pulls, large lock plates with pine motif and elaborate cross bracing on the the safe door...

Antique Japanese woven ikebana (flower) basket with overlaps of swirled and striped bamboo, knotted and twisted handle, large interior bamboo vase lined with metal. Look gorgeous with colorful flower arrangement. Size: 16.5" height, 11" width

This is the clothes which a fire fighter of Edo period wore inside of Sashiko Hanten. This is the very rare item which the person of waterfall ascetic practices was drawn on to a back in Tsutsugaki. This picture does one of the famous programs of Kabuki in a motif. The cotton is spun by hand. And it is slightly thick. This has several places of fading and tears. This has small damage on a collar and a shoulder. However, I do not feel the state. Size 67cm x 90cm (26.3 "x 35.4")

The quality of this small elephant is excellent. Standing foursquare with head turned to one side. The body and the separately cast reliquary - monstrance inlaid, brightly enameled, multi coloured and richly ornamented. Nineteenth century or a little bit earlier. L : 14,8 cm. H : 19,4 cm Condition : Excellent with no damage. The reliquary - monstrance incomplete ( please see the last enlargement ).

Japanese Taisho Period ikebana basket (for flower arranging). Made all of lovely split bamboo with a semi open weave. The handle is made of three pieces of bamboo and knotted together. Wrapped detailed where the handle meets the body of the basket. Signed Kokosai. Size: 19" high x 9" wide.

Antique Tibetan bronze statue of Ganesha, with an arch of flames around his head, a mouse beneath his foot, four arms holding an axe, a noose, and a delicacy. His only empty hand performs the abhaya mudra, a gesture of protection. Traces of vermillion pigment. The bottom of the statue is lined with metal embossed with a flower. 17th century. This lovely plum patterned chawan (umebachi) is done in a classic style known as e-Gorai (“e” meaning picture and “Gorai” meaning Korean). This classification is somewhat of a misnomer as the style is said to have first developed at China’s Cizhou kilns in early Ming—only later being widely copied and popularized in Korea. e-Goriai wares first made an appearance in Japan by way of Korea at the end of the 16th century and have been highly appreciated among tea enthusiasts to this day...

A bowl of unusual inverted bell shape with a comparatively high foot-rim the exterior decorated in early Ming style with an elaborate high looping lotus arabesque to the body. The foot decorated with stylised lotus petals and an “oxo” border to the foot-ring. A very fine quality dish decorated with a pattern of stylised Lotus-mon with three quadrilobed reserves each containing an element of the shochikubai, pine, take, bamboo, matsu, and prunus, ume. The centre decorated with a small central roundel framed by a border of demi-florets containing a Dragon delineated in gilt with green and iron red enamels holding a jewel, tama, in its claw. The rim of the dish is decorated with a border of alternating double crested waves and gilded...

A large dish decorated in reverse painted style, kakiwake, with a pair of Karako, Chinese boys, Shirasagi, White Egrets, and Chrysanthemums. The border painted with a narrow band of shippo against a blue ground, and the reverse of the dish painted with a series of ten auspicious trigrams divided by zoomorphic motifs, perhaps intended to represent scroll dragons. A double square with a four character reign mark for the Xuande Emperor...

A long dish of elliptical form moulded with petals decorated with a dense hagi-karakusa ground and an oval reserve containing a simple flowering Apricot, ume, growing from a rock. The reverse decorated with Karakusa sprigs, and a spiral Fuku within a double square. The dish dates to the early Eighteenth century circa 1700-1740. The dish is in good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. It measures 20.3cm in diameter, 10xm at its widest and stands 4.5cm high

Original example of a Japanese antique isho tansu from the Matsumoto area. Made all of kiri (paulownia) wood with original patina (frame, top, sides, and drawers). Iron hardware includes money bag shaped lock plates specific to Matsumoto tansu, moko shaped drawer pulls and elaborately cut handle back plates and drawer corner bracing. The tansu has 5 large drawers and the lower right hand side has a safe box with 2 small interior drawers.
