Rare “spirit calling” bell from the Yao Mien ethnic group of Guangxi, Vietnam, Laos. This would be used in Daoist ceremonies by Dao Guang priests and an example may be seen in Jess Pourret’s book: The Yao, plate 570, pg 207. DESCRIPTION: A Japanese Sumida vase with round neck covered in a rich, thick flambé glaze running to the shoulders, with a high relief figure of a monkey balanced on a rocky ledge. In his right hand the monkey holds a peach (symbol of longevity) he has pulled from a green vase; these are all contrasted against the ribbed red body of the vase. Excellent condition with no chips; signed "Ryosai" on the base...

Nice heavy Jadeite Bi with subtle green and lavender highlights. There is a crack running all the way through it, an enterprising jeweler could cut this in half and have two usable attractive pieces. Very fine Chinese antique belt hook carved in the shape of a knot with a butterfly on either end, made of beautiful mottled jade ranging from white to grey to bright blue/green, a silver fitting on the back was added later to convert this clothing hook to a pin or broach.

An interesting gunpowder horn dating to the 19th / early 20th century. The slightly curved body is made from water buffalo horn, carved with different motifs as tendrils, fisch scales and Singa masks. The suspension area and the closing mechanism with Singa head, the wide end with a wooden stopper. The gunpowder was stored in the Batak house in large gourds, the chief carried his own personal supply in such containers like this one, which he wore suspended from a chain around his neck...

A beautiful Japanese hand-embroidered silk wall hanging with a scene of two elegantly fighting roosters. Each one surrounded by nicely detailed dandelions and chrysanthemums. Forbidden stitch work used in the center of each flower. Pine tree branches overhang the scene with interesting fine detail. The bottom left is embroidered with a red jar bearing artist's signature.

Japanese carved netsuke of an Oni carrying Okame on his shoulders; fine details throughout; natural material; lacquer tablet on the base; good condition

A famille rose dish decorated with figure painting by famous Jingdezhen ceramic painter Fan Zi Ting. Early 20th century. The dish is in perfect condition beside one small chip on the tip of a flower and the fade gilt on edges. Please study photos carefully. Size: 11-1/2"X10-1/4"X1".

A Chinese jade oval bowl carved in the Mughal style with lobes forming the body , the base with three concentric zones showing leaves and encircling a central flower. The body is thinly carved , the stone is of mottled pale celadon tone. A competently executed example, it measures 2 cm wide, in excellent condition, no breaks no restoration and dating to late Qing period.

Red Lacquered Papier Mache Pencil Box, beautifully painted of children at play in gold and other soft colors near the bridge, 1 1/4" high, 8 5/8" x 3 3/4" wide. This pencil box has divided interior and hinged top with small round brass button in front to operate the openings and closing when you push the brass button. The lacquer painting on top of the lid is in good condition. There are some red lacquer losses under the top and inside.
