1930's Chinese Mahjong Mah Jong Jongg Game Set with Lacquer Wood Carved Box
The box is 7.5 inches (19 cm) tall by 7.8 inches (19.8 cm) long and 7.87 inches (20 cm) wide. Each tile is 0.43 inch thick (1.1 cm) by 1.1 inches (2.8 cm) in length and 0.78 inch (1.95 cm) wide. It is 7.1 Lb.
The box has chips, peeling lacquer, rubbing off paint, surface wears and scratches and can't close tightly...

The first club is stamped on the back with the following: "Hillerich & Bradsby Co. - Louisville, KY - GRAND SLAM" with the "hand and cards" cleek mark". The "#7" is stamped on the sole. The face is DOT stamped with a fancy "GRAND SLAM" mark on the sweet spot. The straight shaft measures 35.5 inches to the heel and sports a replaced leather grip...

Rather unusual late Taisho - early Showa (1920s) Japanese boxwood scoop for loose tea, its handle carved as the head of angry Daruma, Patriarch of Zen Buddhism. Beautifully carved, nice patina, signed on the front with 3 characters that appear to read CHUKOBI. It is very unusual to see signed tea scoop. Length 3 inches.
An antique Japanese transom (Ranma) made of Hinoki (Cypress) wood. Hand carved image of a crouching tiger moving with stealth and grace in a bamboo forest. Pronounced wood grain adds depth and movement to the image.

A beautiful dark wood tray in the shape of an upturned Reishii mushroom, the underside taking advantage of the natural texture and grain of the wood. It is 26 x 21 x 4cm and in excellent condition dating from the later 19th to early 20th centuries.

A beautifully carved tray of overlapping leaves interspersed with clustered grapes by Ichikawa Shudo signed on back in a circular cartouche. In one corner an odd round tail leads us to a squirrel head popping through the leaves, as if one were looking up through the vines toward the sky. It is 46 x 35 x 3 cm (roughly 18 x 14 x 1 inches) and is in overall fine condition, There is a slight warp to the bottom of the tray, but it is still bery usable and there is no damage to the carving...
Two silver teapots, both with strainer and hinged cover on pouring spout. Beautifully made with floral decoration, the knobs in bud-shape. Both marked "ZR800". Provenance: Swiss-Dutch family living in Indonesia in the first half of the 20th C. Condition: few traces of usage. Ca 1920 A wonderful set liqueur cups with etched silver plate holders. The cups are also etched with various designs. Three holders have a daisy and bud motif, four feature holly leaves while the remaining four have bamboo. One glass insert has a rough rim, another has a crack ( see photos) and some of the holders have dark spots inside the plate. 1-1/4"(h) x 1-5/8"(w). Sold as is.
