Antique Chinese carved jadeite snuff bottle. The stone is speckled with variations of green including small striations of a brilliant apple-green color. The flattened globular formed body is carved with peony flowers on one side and lotus blossoms and birds on the other.

Unusual 19th century Chinese marble brush rest suggesting a dramatic mountain with multiple arches and caves. The piece gives a good feeling of weathered mountain surfaces and quiet energy of the stone. Beautifully carved marble pierced to resemble traditional Taihu limestone, richly textured surface. Natural fissure lines in the stone, no losses or repairs. Excellent functional object for scholar’s table, can be viewed as a scholar’s rock as well. Length 5 1/2 inches.

Song Dynasty Jun ware brush shaper or brushwasher. This was originally the base of flower vase which was later reworked into a scholar’s object. The brown clay indicates this was fired in Henan and in my opinion is representative of the kind that was acquired for the Imperial Qing collection rather then the more typical bowls and saucers. The top surface has more discoloration and minor scratches which indicates, that the repurposing was done some time ago...
