Continuing on the theme of Etruscan style jewelry, this time I am presenting you with a big, fun Mexican Deco example that will satisfy both your eyes and your ears! Not only is this a beautiful, very sculptural piece, it is also a chiming pendant, emitting a sweet sound whenever you shake it. Music to the ears, candy to the eyes the pendant measures 1 5/8” tall (including the bail) by 1 1/4” wide (at the waist) and weighs 32.2 grams...

A fabulous Italian Deco (if not a little earlier even!) silver charm / pendant in the Peruzzi style, this piece is big and opens up to reveal a hidden compartment. Usually referred to as "trunk" charms, baubles like this in the Etruscan style can be seen hanging off bracelets or worn with vintage chains as necklaces. I love the detail and profuse ornamentation of the "sphere" at hand with its row of red coral cabs adding a splash of color to the beautifully aged silver-work...

I have a weakness for Italian silver jewelry and vanity pieces from the opening decades of the 20th c. and enameled compacts with figural decoration are a big favorite of mine. I admittedly don’t “powder my nose” yet these small treasures are worthy of being proudly displayed as miniature works of art. The richly-colored, very nicely detailed courting scene at the center of the compact at hand is a marvel in and of itself...

A beautiful Art Deco 18K white gold three-stone ring set with peridots. The setting is finely worked in an Art Deco interpretation of a classic acanthus leaf design. The workmanship is ornate enough that the setting appears to be a filigree mounting upon initial inspection. The peridots have fine coloring, clarity and brilliance. The center stone is 1.58 carats and is flanked on either side by a 1.10 carat stone...

A nice Victorian 14K gold by-pass bangle bracelet, the top adorned with a spray of wheat set with turquoise cabochons and tiny seed pearls. In the Victorian era, sprays of wheat were intended to represent “posperity.” At a time when a woman’s fortunes depended entirely upon those of her husband, a bracelet such as this may have been gifted for the wedding as a hope for the bride’s future prosperity. The bangle is hinged, so it is easy to put on and remove...

This English jewel reflects the aesthetics of fin de siècle France, with its pink topazes and demantoid garnets. The fairly large oval topazes are surrounded by swirls of seed-pearl-set gold, and set off by 4 bright green garnets, two of which are set into the fine chains which connect the top section to the bottom; of the other two, the top one is a modified pear shape, the other is oval. The jewel measures 2” long by 1-1/8” across at the widest point, and weighs 5.4g...
