One of the Mexican designs inspired by Far Eastern cultures, the koi fish are a signature creation of Margot de Taxco and the Los Castillo yet its popularity prompted many of their "less celebrated" or anonymous contemporary maestros to come up with their own versions of it. And thankfully so because one can now find a beautiful example by a talented maker without having to break the bank - or at least not in a truly dramatic way! A very cool brooch by Peggy Miller, an American studio jeweler who worked in Baltimore in the 1950's -60's. This brass brooch measures 2" across and 2 1/8" high. Has a rollover safety clasp that holds securely. Signed Peggy Miller on the back. The points are curved up giving the brooch a three dimensional effect. There is some tarnish. Great mid century design.

Beautiful Bakelite necklace of graduated smooth round beads simluating cherry amber, with a hidden screw barrel clasp. Tests positive for Bakelite and guaranteed old and original. This early 1940's Los Castillo necklace is a masterpiece, designed by Margot van Voorhies Carr / Margot de Taxco, who was married to Antonio Castillo at that time. A wonderful pair of Victorian cufflinks, the faces fashioned as bloodstone (heliotrope) spheres encircled by gold snakes. The stones are nicely mottled with red and green colors and spin freely on their axes. The snakes circle around the bloodstones at the equator and their heads rise up over the top. The gold is finished in the slightly matte “Russian finish” often used in Art Nouveau jewelry and the snakes are lightly engraved with scaly details...

Beautiful Art Deco three-stone design in Platinum totaling 2.93 carats. The Old European Cut center diamond measures approximately 1.20 carats and grades on the GIA scale as L color and VS2 clarity. The Old European Cut diamonds on either side measure approximately .80 carats and .93 carats and grade as VVS2-VS1 Clarity and K-M color. An 1894 South Africa 1/2 Kruger Pond 22k gold coin mining brooch pin. This unusual pin was assembled as a souvenir of the South African gold mines and these coins were frequently brought back to the U.K. after the Boer war as souvenirs. A pretty necklace to liven any outfit! The bright turquoise in this lovely lavalier would be a bright accent for any outfit. The turquoise is an oval cabochon, and it is surrounded by gold 'ribbons' set with seed pearls. The use of 9 ct gold suggests an English origin but it is not hallmarked. It is is signed with the maker's mark SB & SLD in rounded rectangular lozenges. The lavalier comes with a 16" gold filled chain and is 1 1/4" X 1". Circa 1900.

This is an amazingly modern-looking Art Nouveau necklace. A total of seven garnets, two round, two oval, two square, and one teardrop, are mounted in 14 k gold. The square and teardrop garnets depend from the round stones and add movement to the design. The central dropper is studded with tiny seed pearls. The necklace is 15”long and the piece is unmarked.
