A turn of the century oil of red roses, signed at lower right "Myrtle Crittenden". There is a "Miss M. Crittenden" listed in Hughes' dictionary of California artists, and she was noted there to have exhibited at the California state fair in 1881. This painting came out of the Sacramento area, so, that makes sense. Not dated but likely dates to early 20th century when such works were still especially popular, as they had since Victorian times. This oil measures 18 3/4" by 15 1/4" plus 3 1/2" o...
Oil on wood panel still life painting of ceramic vessels, plate, kettle, and candlestick, all arranged on a tabletop, apparently unsigned, but on the reverse of the panel is a "Royal Exhibition" 1930 label, and there is a James Bourlet shipping label as well. The work measures 20" by 24" (27 1/2" by 31 1/2" framed). This beautifully impressionistic work is likely by a listed artist but I am stymied by the lack of a signature. Perhaps more research will turn up the identity of the talented art...

An interesting painting of a brick church dramatically positioned in a rural landscape with distant mountains, the year 1898 appearing on the lintel over the door, signed at lower right corner "K. A 1954 photo online shows him standing in front of a Thomas Hart Benton painting. This may be by that individual. The painting, on can...

The pair has some scratches and small abrasions in a few spots, and one has a scratched area at top extending into the gold margin; but, these flaws are not so significant as to affect the overall impression. A truly beautiful circa 1890 print of elegant Parisians strolling past and perusing the famous Bouquiniste bookstalls along the banks of the Seine River, not signed in plate nor in pencil but certainly by a listed or even important and well-known artist. The print measures 16" by 12" inside the existing mat, the sheet 19 1/2" by 15" (and 20 1/2" by...
