Pastel on paper, 10 1/2" by 23 1/2" and 2" inch wide very attractive and complementary oak Arts and Crafts appearance wood frame, unsigned, the subject bananas, peaches, and a basket, circa 1920. A very appealing small forest interior painting on board, 9" by 11" (12" by 14" in modern day gold framing), unsigned on front but on reverse in old hand is written (difficult to decipher) "near XXX farm Hampstead Heath/Oct. 3 1908 5 PM/P. P. (XXXX)". The word after P.P. is the last name of the artist but it has defied my efforts to make it out. The scene is painted in luminous tan colors with light grayish green and cream here and there, all in a very impressionistic blond to silvery light...

The famous large folio size Currier and Ives lithograph of 1864, "Winter in the Country" (sometimes referred to by its subtitle, "Getting Ice") is a very desirable image, and the original printing is very rare, highly coveted by collectors, and in 2002 with the late George Cohenour of Pennsylvania, Currier expert and publisher of a widely used price guide, that print is likely the most rare in the entire Currier and Ives production history...

I would date the work to the 1930's or 1940's, judging from the excellent WPA regionalism style. A beautifully painted unframed work by an anonymous talented hand, late 20th century or later, on canvas, 26 1/2" by 22 1/2", featuring an old-country view of house and courtyard in a valley setting. The flickering, spontaneous impressionist brushwork is impressive. Sadly, the artist did not sign the piece. Excellent condition, needing only a frame.

For the collector of Judaica or Jewish art, here is an opportunity to acquire a fine impressionist painting of a Jewish rabbi or holy man, signed at lower left in both English and Hebrew, by the noted listed Jewish artist DAVID GILBOA (1910-1976). The work is a vignette study, impressionistically painted, with expressive brushstrokes. Condition of painting and frame is excellent save for an approximately 1 1/2" long vertical tear just below the beard. It can be repaired but from normal viewing ...

An interesting contemporary painting of a middle-aged man sitting on a stool in a homey, cozy interior, a fireplace, paned window and painting set off by orange pastel colored walls. The unsigned work, by a trained hand, reminds of some of the interior paintings with figures by David Hockney. The oil on canvas, unframed, measures 30" by 24". It is in excellent condition. A silvery, or simple blond wood strip frame might be complementary.

An elegant, black ink on white paper drawing of the heart of Montmartre in Paris, the famous Place du Tertre, where to this day artists endure ten year waiting lists to secure a spot outdoors to create the works tourists love to buy. This beautiful drawing is signed at lower right with what appears as "Dieter Gly(xx)" and is dated there 1958. It is in excellent condition, considering it is over sixty years old. Simply framed in black strip, it is ready for the wall. The drawing itself measur...

Attractive contemporary era painting of seven ducks in flight over a marshy estuary on a cloudy afternoon, 24" by 36", unframed, signed at lower right illegibly. I am trying to decipher the signature but so far nothing fits. The size and a stamp on the reverse establishing the copyright rights of the artist suggest that the painting is American. I am sure the artist is listed. Unfortunately due to careless previous owners, there is a significant torn area at lower right in the rippling water...

Lithograph print in elegant gray and white on black paper, 27" by 22", (and 30" by 25" in simple silvered wood modern frame) {UPDATE: may be currently unframed, inquire}, pencil signed at lower right, and numbered 7/100 at lower left. The title is "Daphne and Apollo", the imagery consisting of idealized male and female figures with leafy trees in the background, creating a most interesting and modern composition that looks almost like a "solarized" photo. Considering the complexity of this image...

Large colored etching, posthumous printing, after the circa 1914 original print of the famous Austrian landmark on the Danube west of Vienna, the 18th century-built Melk Abbey (sometimes called Melk Monastery), signed in pencil at lower center by the son of the artist, Robert (the actual signature is preceded by "nl" which indicates Nachlass, or Studio, of the artist). The image is by the well-known painter and printmaker LUIGI KASIMIR (1881-1962). The 18" by 23" work (28" by 32 1/2" framed) i...

Gouache on paper landscape drawing, 14" by 21" (27" by 33 1/2" framed), signed somewhat illegibly in the lower right corner in pencil and dated there "43", the subject a small village on the shore of a lake or ocean. The scene, including small white church steeple, reminds me vaguely of the quaint coastal tourist town of Mendocino north of San Francisco. There is no hint as to where the subject is, so, we will just have to guess. The signature might be "Pien" or "Pian" or similar. I've opened...
