Large vintage “bush knife” from Lanna Thailand, this is an all purpose tool with a thick spine and very sharp edge- quite heavy as well. The blade is fixed with a steel collar and woven rattan and comes with a bamboo basket type sheath. Total L: 54cm/22.2in (blade L: 29cm/11.5in and handle L: 25cm/10.5in). This is an artisanal village made piece and not mass produced.

Vintage Japanese burlwood stand of irregular shape, to be used for placing small objects during tea ceremony or display of okimono. Wonderful wood with supremely beautiful texture resembling swirling clouds, in excellent condition. Length 4 1/4 inches, width 2 3/4 inches, height 5/8 inches.

Chinese porcelain dish with garden scene. Three figures sit around a table eating fruit while a fourth figure stands, gazing at something. The party is seated under hanging lamps. The border of the bowl is intricately decorated with chrysanthemums, peonies, and other flowers. The back of the dish has a red stamp and three bands of flowers. It measures 13" diameter. Republic period mid 20th century.

Striking Showa Period c.1930 negoro lacquered tray. Negoro lacquering techniques were developed in the Edo Period at Negoro Temple in Wakayama Pref. putting on layers of black lacquer then covering with red lacquer and burnishing until the black rubbed through. The motif are old coins in raised relief of lacquer. Ask for shipping quote. L:14" x W:9".

A Tibetan ewer beautifully worked in silver alloy, probably with later gilding. The compressed body with two cartouches showing the subject of "the four harmonious brothers" and a monk sitting under a tree among animals and treasures. The lid with a vajra-shaped knob and decorated with Buddhist symbols. Silver tested. Condition: few traces of usage, areas with little oxidation. Dimension: c. 15 cm long, 12.5 cm high, weight: 321 g.

Netsuke carved by Ryoshu (born in 1912) - one of the best Japanese netsuke carvers of the 20th century. Netsuke represents a doll of Daruma (founder of Zen Buddhism) enveloped in monastic robe, and his eyes can pop in and out. Perfectly captured facial expression, beautifully incised and etched facial hair and 3 flowering chrysanthemums on his robe. It appears that the artist etched a different design on every piece of this model of his - see the other Darumas by Ryoshu on my site...

A fine, vintage necklace of natural and graduate Italian red coral beads. Largest central bead diameter 12 mm. smallest 4 mm. Clasp: 14K gold marked with goldsmith EKJ and a large Coral Cabochon: 16 mm long x 9 mm. The coral strand necklace is made of 91 pearls and it is 54 cm long. Weight: 36 grams. From the 40/50’s. The size of Charger: 12 3/8" Dia x 1 3/4" High. Very Fine Japanese Aote Kutani Charger. Aote is green in Kutani ware terminology which was Miyamoto kiln originated. The charger is made with fine crackle glazing earthenware body finish as many Kutani piece in modern age. It has wonderful workmenship and design of Oshidori(mandarin duck) with Plum tree and bamboo. This carved smoky crystal snuff bottle is 2” high, 3” long and 1” thick. It depicts a lucky bat resting on a melon. The crystal has some natural flaws. However, the color is quite even and it has been well hollowed and polished. It has a coral top. This is a mid-20th century product and is in good condition.

Old oxcart for Hina Matsuri, the Japanese girl's festival. Decorated in makie on lacquered wood, this style of the carriage was used by the aristocrats during the Heian period (I794-1185). This can be displayed with the "shittei (shitei)", three servants dolls and/or other small dolls. The carriage is tied to the stand in original condition which needs to be untied after the shipment. Japanese 20th century tea bowl. The deeply thrown tea bowl has the design of bridge and flowers. Stamp on artist on bottom. The bowl measures 3" tall, 4 3/4" in diameter at the top and 1 7/8" in diameter at the base.

This Tibetan wool sash measures 12.7 cm x 340.4 cm in length including the silky fringes. The tigma (cross) motif is an ancient good luck charm among Tibetans and here it is depicted in a discontinuous weft pattern design. These sashes are traditionally worn to secure the traditional Tibetan attire called a chuba.
