Very rare carving of the Three Wise Monkeys, sanzaru in Japanese, sitting on two logs. The one who hears no evil (kikazaru) and the one who speaks no evil (iwazaru) are sitting together. A little separated from them sits the one that sees no evil (mizaru). Carved in facet-cut (abstracted style) in soft cedar wood (sugi).

Old mask carved in a very hard wood depicting a benevolent expression face covered with a beautiful and thick black patina. Chinese Pig Skin Leather Trunk in reddish brown color, 11 1/2" high, 27" wide, 17 1/2" deep, with brass round lock plate and handles on both side and lined with cotton fabric inside, and maker's trade marks stamped in front. There are some wear and tear on two(2) corners near top front area.
