A rare 18th/19th Century carved agate snuff bottle with, possibly later, silver and rose quartz stopper. On the stopper is inscribed the Shanghai silversmiths "Wen Yuan" who are recorded as having traded from the Jiaqing (1796-1820) reign through until the Republic period (1912- 1949). Condition - excellent - there is a shallow chip on top, next to the mouth (please view enlargement 11) no further damages and no restoration. 5cm (2inches) high; 4.8cm (1.9 inches) wide.

Antique 18th – early 19th Century Chinese Qing Dynasty Carved Dragon Belt Hook mounted as a magnifying glass handle in a gilt copper mount with engraved flowers and leaf decoration attached to a circular polished magnifying lens. A fine and very rare bat-shaped porcelain censer with what are apparently bat head feet. We believe that there would originally have been a wood cover secured into the two outer holes and that the incense smoke would have escaped through the three central holes.
This item was made in China for the domestic market as a temple or home alter piece in the early 18th Century, probably during the reign of the Kangxi emperor (1662-1722).
Condition - excellent - no damages and no restoration.

A charming porcelain statue was rarely found from an old collection.
In amusing subject of Mother and Child, this statue was put in the famous Chinese antique magazine Art and Collection - May edition, to celebrate the international Mother's Day of May.
It was well preserved without any crack-lines and was free from any restorations.
Of course, due to long time of burial, some abrasions were caused to the surface (see details).

Shallow form with brilliant turquoise color. The cavetto is molded with thirty-two chrysanthemum petal-form flutes that appear convex on the back-side of the dish and encircle the flattened base. A “China” mark is needle-incised on the base. Very good condition. Acquired 25 years ago in North Carolina from an estate that was involved with the tobacco trade in China. It is rare for a large, delicate flat-rimmed dish, such as this one, to survive without damage.

Used by the bride for wedding this elaborate kingfisher feather crown is a very old and rare piece. The oldest kingfisher ornaments were made by glueing the feathers onto heavy paper. Metal wire was only used to attach pieces together. Both paper and the feathers are fragile, so not many of these old pieces have survived. Beautiful Shusu (satin silk) Uchikake kimono from the Meiji period (1868 - 1912). All hand sewn with embroidery and gold couching work - overlaying of threads (real gold wrapped around thread) rather than going in and out of the base fabric.

A unique and heavy sterling turquoise squash blossom necklace and earring set by Navajo artisan Hemerson Brown. The silver has been "antiqued" . The necklace measures 23" while the naja measures 2-1/2" x 2-1/2". The earrings (for pierced ears) are 2-1/4" x 1-1/2. Total weight 5.4ozs.

Chinese Ming Dynasty Glazed Pottery Ridge Tile - Lion Dog
This sturdy ridge tile in the form of a seated lion-dog dates to the latter part of the Ming Dynasty (c. 1600 - 1644). It is coated in a thick and finely-crackled attractive turquoise glaze. The curved underneath of the tile remains unglazed and has the impressions of a finely-woven cloth on which it must have been placed during manufacture.
