Japanese Buddhist scroll painting with the image of Amida raigo, the descent of Amida Buddha from the Western Paradise to earth. He comes down to transport the newly deceased devotee to the Western Paradise. In the middle Amida, to his right the bodhisattva Seishi, hands folded in prayer, to his left Kannon holding the lotus throne for transporting the deceased to Paradise. A ray of light comes from Amida’s urna. All three figures are standing on lotus thrones, floating on white clouds...

Rare and important head of a bearded apostle, his face showing a strong and passionate expression. Polychrome wood. Eyes made of glass painted inside. Of Spanish origin, dating back to the 18th century, this head was found in the Philipines in 1978, together with the centurion head (see our stock number 1-1013 ). Height: 29 cm. Pair of Japanese iron tsuba (sword guard), mounted on a stand, dating from the 17th/19th century with Hidden Christian motifs. The first tsuba composed of three iron interlocking circles, the image of the Cross can be seen. The second iron tsuba has a very delicate wire design in the interior representing the Crown of Thorns, also has a cross in the overall pattern.

Antique Chinese scroll painting of a goose seated below a berry branch at the water's edge with calligraphy. Signature reads Chen Mei, dated "first day in Autumn, 1740". Size: (entire scroll) 77" H x 27.5" W (artwork only) 35.5" H x 19" W

Antique Korean bowl, with a rich crackle celadon glaze. Its outer edges are incised with thick lotus petals. The bowl displays small, buff areas, bare from the natural dripping of the glaze.

A famille rose enameled porcelain plate decorated with dragons, phoenix, crane, butterflies and other motifs on coral-red ground, a six character red enamel "Da Qing Guangxu Nian Zhi" mark is on the bottom. This plate was one of the party wares with similar designs made for Emperor Guangxu's wedding in 1888. The plate is in excellent condition beside some scratches on enamel - no chip, no hairline and no restoration. Diameter: 9"

A Chinese painted grey pottery figure of a standing musician, very well modelled wearing a wind hat, his head turned down to the right. 20 cms. Northern Wei dynasty, 5th/6th century AD. Oxford TL Test Certificate. This is a rare figure. To date I have only seen one other musician from the same set.

Pair of Edwardian Georgian sterling silver candlesticks. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York, ca 1915. Each: Tapering shaft with base knop on stepped and raised foot. Socket has straight sides and detachable bobeche. Faceted. Traditional form with showy gilding. Fully marked including maker’s stamp, pattern no. 18910 (first produced in 1915), and director’s letter m. Very good condition with nice toning.

Antique pair of Chinese porcelain bowls, beautifully painted with three bats in yellow, red and blue, in the center of each bowl is a red longevity symbol, around the inside rim of each bowl is three more red longevity symbols and branches with peaches, the outside of each bowl is decorated with flowers, each is signed in red on the bottom with a six character mark early 19th century. Size of each: 5 5/8" wide diameter.

Fan-shaped kobako in lacquer. The kobako is decorated with autumn plants on sequined silver and gold. The inside and the circumference are in nashi-ji lacquer.

Chinese small ceramic water coupe, the interior and outer body with thick grey crackle glaze, the dark brown clay body exposed where the glaze drips end. The short, rounded form has a ribbed body and slightly flared, wide mouth. Possible Guan Ware c15th century.

Antique Chinese porcelain plate circa 1900's (Qing Dynasty). The plate is beautifully painted with a sage holding a sprig of bamboo riding a blue celadon. The Sage and fish are accompanied by a gold winged dog. There are three seals. The plate is bordered with three registers. It measures 11.75" wide by 9" tall. The base has four bats, one on each side. The edge of the plate has old fitters from age.
