Antique Japanese rare and tall ikebana basket, intricately woven of fine split bamboo. The body of the basket has a beautiful, undulating quality. The woven pattern is wildly natural on the lower portion, then switches to ordered bands closer to a wide rim. The extraordinary handle is made of twisted root wood.

HAEJUBAN TEA TABLE

Individual wooden table with such unique decorative carving made in Haeju (around Pyongyang of today) in Korean Peninsula, early 20th century, approx. 43 x 32.8 x H 27cm (16.92 x 12.91 x 10.62in). Handy lightweight structure as easy carrying and storing. In good condition, with some expected sign of use and repair at one leg (see photo#8) as is as seen. This porcelain sugar bowl with lid and cream pitcher was produced in the United States around 1900. It is signed by Osborne who was an artist at Pickard and later opened his own decorating studio. The sugar bowl measures 6 inches across the handles and is approximately 4 1/4 inches high, including the lid. The decoration is in the art nouveau style. There are cartouches of stylized flowers on a cobalt ground. Three borders of decoration are painted with blue and white luster colors...

A tall antique Korean Nong clothes cabinet decorated in mother of pearl with nickel hard mounts. Twelve landscape scenes with six stylized book match on front hinged doors. Key fret frame design surrounding doors and drawers.

Ink and pigment on a natural wood ground, depicting a peacock perched on a flowering cherry tree, signed/sealed Sho[ryo], the reverse with scattered cherry petals floating near a flowering dandelion plant. A small zitan wood tray decorated with silver dragons and silver handles. Late Qing Dynasty. Condition: Very good condition, there is only one small chip at the corner. Dimensions: 14-1/2"L X 3-1/2"W X 1-3/4"H.

A most unique pair of Chinese Pig Skin Trunks, obviously painted by a Japanese screen artist who made these wonderful decorative, rare creations, featuring a marvelous crane and flowers painted in the Japanese style. Late 19th to early 20th Century. 22w x 9.5h x 13.5d inches, 56 x 24 x 34 cm.

Antique hardwood tray for serving betel or opium paraphenalia, with metal-banded corners (paktong) and finely inlaid in mother-of-pearl, the sides and skirt with scenes of figures in landscapes and other motifs. Pair of Japanese 6-panel screen paintings. Painted with a continuous scene of a rural landscape. Mountain pavilions sit atop high peaks reached by winding trails. Across an expanse of calm water stretches a long, low foot bridge occasionally interrupted by a sudden archway. Boats and tiny figures go about their business. Painted in sumi ink and with gold leaf on paper.

A pair of antique Japanese mixed metal candlesticks made of bronze and silver. The base of the tall candlestick has elephant trunks as legs. The top portion has reliefs of birds in foliage and a dragonfly on lotus leaves. The shorter candlestick has similar reliefs of birds and a dragonfly.

These very well carved and polished crabs are a late Meiji period product. They are about 4” wide, 2 ½” high and 1 ½” thick. Aside from some small old repair and hair line cracks due to their age, they are in great condition.

Antique Japanese screen painting (byobu) in two panels with a view over a garden fence. Tall white chrysanthemum flowers blossom near a stand of small blue Matsumoto asters. In the background is a mist of silver leaf. Painted in mineral pigments, raised gofun and silver leaf on paper.
