HAEJUBAN TEA TABLE

Individual wooden table with such unique decorative carving made in Haeju (around Pyongyang of today) in Korean Peninsula, early 20th century, approx. 43 x 32.8 x H 27cm (16.92 x 12.91 x 10.62in). An individual eating table for serving the meal of the day or drinks and treats to your guests. This table measures about 11" high x 16 1/2" in diameter, and dates to the late Joseon Dynasty. The table has a solid, heavy, carved twelve sided, hardwood top (elm), and a softer wood (like ginkgo) was used for the supporting structures, legs and stretchers. Beautiful Korean stacked clothing cabinet "Yi Chung Nong" in 2-sections with elm wood and inlaid hardwood design, and brass hardware, top section has a row of 3 small drawers on the top, with 2 sets of opening doors. This interesting Japanese carved ivory netsuke is a late 19th or early 20th century product. It depicts a female figure (perhaps Okame, also known as Uzume or Otafuku, goddess of mirth) carrying a long armed monkey on her back. A younger monkey is sitting in front of her with both arms raised to grasp the hands of the older monkey. It is 2 ¾” high, ¾” wide and ½” thick. The artist signature “Meigyoku” is on the bottom. It is in great condition.

Antique Japanese tall bronze vase in the form of a section of a cherry tree trunk. The tree has been pruned and it's new growth is just starting to blossom. 5 bats flit around the trunk. Details like the texture of the cherry tree bark, the faces and fur of the little bats add a life-like feel to the scene. Made for use with dry branches or an insert for water (not included).

105" long late Meiji to early Showa period Japanese ink and color on silk scrolled painting by Yagioka Shunzan (1879-1941) depicting figures on a boat in a landscape scene. A craggy cliff with pine outcroppings rises sharply above the emerging boat. Signed in black ink at the lower right and with the artist's red seal below. Early 20th century. Scroll: 105" x 28 7/8" (painting: 63" x 22 1/8"). Very good overall condition...

Rare Pair of Boxes for Storing a Scholar's Name Seals, with Lovely Wood Grain and Metalwork. A scholar's name seals were among his most personal and treasured items. 6h x 5w x 5d inches, 15h x 12.5w x 12.5d cm.

This porcelain sugar bowl with lid and cream pitcher was produced in the United States around 1900. It is signed by Osborne who was an artist at Pickard and later opened his own decorating studio. The sugar bowl measures 6 inches across the handles and is approximately 4 1/4 inches high, including the lid. The decoration is in the art nouveau style. There are cartouches of stylized flowers on a cobalt ground. Three borders of decoration are painted with blue and white luster colors...

Antique hardwood tray for serving betel or opium paraphenalia, with metal-banded corners (paktong) and finely inlaid in mother-of-pearl, the sides and skirt with scenes of figures in landscapes and other motifs. Condition: one larger loss to mother-of-pearl inlays (please see last photo) and few tiny ones. Dimension: 30.8 x 18 x 10.7 cm, weight: 1.3 kg.

Beautiful open salt, finely cut in diamond, fan and rib patterns. Probably made in Sweden c 1900 by Kosta or Reijmyre glassworks. Width "3/ 7.7 cm. Condition: fine.

Antique Japanese screen painting (byobu) in two panels with a view over a garden fence. Tall white chrysanthemum flowers blossom near a stand of small blue Matsumoto asters. In the background is a mist of silver leaf. Painted in mineral pigments, raised gofun and silver leaf on paper.

Japanese Meiji Period painted poloma wood door (sugido). Ink and pigment on a natural wood ground, depicting a peacock perched on a flowering cherry tree, signed/sealed Sho[ryo], the reverse with scattered cherry petals floating near a flowering dandelion plant. Possibly featured in a retreat of the upper class. Height: 70.75 inches, 180 cm; Width: 34.25 inches, 87 cm.

A most unique pair of Chinese Pig Skin Trunks, obviously painted by a Japanese screen artist who made these wonderful decorative, rare creations, featuring a marvelous crane and flowers painted in the Japanese style. Late 19th to early 20th Century. 22w x 9.5h x 13.5d inches, 56 x 24 x 34 cm.
