An antique Japanese Isho Tansu (kimono storage chest) made entirely of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original bronze hardware and Oxblood red Urushi lacquer finish. Drawer lock plates have an unusual stylized insect-like incised design with fine stimple work accents and handles in the Warabite style. True dovetail joinery and hardened wooden nails were used in the making of this chest.

A large highly decorative sterling silver figural-form bonbon spoon, circa 19th C, .950 silver, made in Yokahama Japan for the American market, comprising a full size geisha girl handle holding a parasol, the parasol is the bowl of the spoon. Beautifully executed face, kimono and obi, as well as parasol, this is a perfect example of Victorian cutlery at its finest. Marked on back STERLING. An antique Japanese 2 section tall Isho Tansu (Kimono Chest) made from Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. Handmade iron fittings and sliding door handles that feature embossed Paulownia and Chrysanthemums. Side handles were used for transporting this chest.

The 2 sections allows this piece to be used as a stacked set or separated for use in different rooms of the home.

A late 19th or early 20th Century porcelain snuff bottle, painted in shades of underglaze blue and pale olive green, depicting a lady and three boys in an interior or enclosed garden setting. The green hardstone stopper is probably jade and the spatula is finely carved ivory. Condition: there are many small burst production glaze bubbles: no chips or cracks and there has been no restoration. 7.5cm ( 3 inches) high (without stopper).

Antique Japanese two panel screen inlaid on both sides with mother of pearl and bone. The front has two beautiful scenes of birds and butterflies perched on flowering wisteria branches. The lower register has a phoenix and a dragon. The back side has scenes of butterflies flittering about. The lower region has panels of crashing waves.Meiji period, 1868-1912. It measures 37" tall 25.25" wide.

Rare Japanese Tansu made of inlaid woods with lacquer panels. Beautifully inlaid with wood in designs of fans and japanese symbols. The inside has black with gold landscape scenes. The drawers are black with copper colored design. The doors have scenes with chickens and a rooster. Outfitted with brass hardware. It measures 13" deep 23" wide 21" tall. Late Meiji period, circa 1910.

Diameter approximately 28 cm/each. A chip at the rim. In good condition.

A wonderful late 19th or very early 20th century sheet iron weathervane in the form of a sperm whale silhouette. The vane is hand sawn and retains its old coat of oxidized green paint (may be original, but appears to be a second coat). One side still has its black painted eye. The silhouette is attached to its original copper mounting pole. Found in Maine.

Black Raku Chawan with wood box, both have the sign of the 12th. Kichizaemon Konyu ( 1857-1932 ).

The lid back of the wood box bares the appraisal and of Sen Sosa XII 'Sesai' ( 1863 - 1937 ), who has been the 12th grand tea master of Omotesenke.

We offer this tea bowl by order of a German collector.

This Qing Dynasty Guang Xu period (1875~1908) carved bamboo brush holder is 6 ¾” high, 5” in diameter and ½” thick. It depicts Chinese sages’ daily life. Some are chatting with each other; some are reading in a hut; and some are walking across a bridge. The inscribed poem translates to “I asked the young boy (standing) under the pine tree, where did your master go? The young boy answered, master went to the mountain looking for herbs for medicine...
