A refined image of the deity Amitayus, known as the Buddha of infinite light in many pureland texts including the Sukhavativyuha Sutra. The central Amitayus image is surrounded by nearly a hundred or so other Amitayus images reflecting a concept found in Vajrayana and Mahayana texts of how a Buddha or Bodhisattva can be found in many locations simultaneously. Japanese antique tetsubin (kettle for heating water for tea), made of cast iron, dramatic and very three dimensional design of a dragon in swirling waves, highly raised with wonderful detail, bronze lid with lotus pod. Meiji Period c1900. Size: 9" high including handle x 7 1/2" wide including spout.
Genuine Amber 34 pieces. Weight 290 g. Largest piece 4cm. Can be viewed in central London by arrangement.

This late 19th century Chinese famille-rose water jar is 2 ¾ inches tall and 2 ¾ inches wide. It depicts five boys in a procession. The first two boys are holding banners and gongs. The third is holding a lantern. The forth child is dressed in red and is riding a Qilin (a Chinese legendary animal which has a dragon head and ox body). This boy carries a puppet. The last boy is holding a fancy umbrella. The workmanship is excellent and it is in great condition.

Large Korean wooden statue of the Amida Buddha or Amitābha, also known as "The Buddha of Infinite Light." He was covered in an oyster shell pigment in order to smooth out the woodgrain, a red lacquer was applied over it, and finally a gold leaf topcoat was applied. He is typically shown in a standing position and is oddly portrayed seated in this statue. 19th century

An Hirado incense burner of squat globular form with three scroll feet and lion mask handles with a high domed reticulated cover surmounted by a Shishi and ball filial. The body of the koro decorated in underglaze blue with a Chinese “ko sometsuke” style landscape.
The censer is in good condition without chips, restoration, but there are some firing flaws notably to the juncture of the legs and to the body of the koro, and a minor firing crack to the rim...
19th century Chinese soap stone sculpture. A reclining Lo-Han is petting a lion cub. The thin man has a curly beard, one foot bare, the other wearing a sandal; his robe is open to expose his bare chest with ribs showing. Carved black wood base. Condition : It was possible to re-glue the broken vase very successfully. Although there is no re-paint to the vase the re-glued areas are quite discrete.
