Antique Japanese fu dog netsuke, with open mouth and front paw resting upon a hollow xi qui ball. Beautifully carved with attention to detail. A tiny ball has been carved to roll around loosely within its mouth. The bottom has been engraved with the artist's signature "Genryosai Minkoku". Lived and work in Edo, Japan.

A wonderful boxwood carved netsuke of five turtles climbing on top of each other. Intricate details can be seen throughout, creating a very realistic form. Each turtle has little black eyes. The large turtle on bottom has retreated into his shell and has the artist's signature delicately carved into his belly "Senzan".

An attractive antique Chinese porcelain plate, hand painted with a large, leaping blue carp with russet colored cross-hatched scales. The carp was an auspicious fish in China and a symbol of perseverance and success, often applied to success in business enterprises and state examinations. This is finely carved 18th Century Japanese netsuke depicting Jittoku Sennin. He is a Chinese Shih Teh who appears as a boyish figure that is marked with the wrinkles of old age. He is often depicted holding a broom, such as in this case. Incredible large chimney himotoshi, common of netsuke made during the Edo period of Japan. Unsigned.
