During the Edo period, the women of the Samurai class carried a pouch in their chest area (right above the obi belt) when they were dressed up in formal kimonos. The pouch was folded into a skinnier shape and accented with a nice tie. Carried inside were the beni ita (today's lipstick), a mirror, tissues, kanzashi, coins, etc. The chains were added to the kanzashi (hair ornament) sometime later...

Chinese Ming dynasty sancai or green glazed water drooper with human ridding makara fish. 9 cm high 10 cm wide (maybe 12 cm if the tail complete). Missing the tail fish. Free from any repair.

A long-necked original bronze vase with a rounded body. The top of the slender neck has a ring midway and swells out at the mouth in the shape of a garlic bulb, giving the vase its special name. It has a nice aging patina. It can be cleaned but I wouldn't recommend it.

Period: Western Han (206BC - 25AD)

Size: Height = 32 cm (12.6 inches) Condition: A small dent on one side. Very good condition for its age.

1930's Japanese Gilt Bronze Buddha Sankosho & Tokkosho (Dokkosho)

The sankosho is 5.6 inches (14.2 cm) tall by 1.6 inches (4.3 cm) wide. The tokkosho is 5.2 inches (13.3 cm) tall by 0.6 inch (1.7 cm) wide. They are 0.6 Lb.

It have rubbing of gilt, oxidation, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

This is a large antique fukusa, Japanese gift cover, 34 inches long and 26 inches wide, without including the tassels. The lid of the wooden box (hiro buta) that carried gifts was often placed upside down to display the gifts. The length of the Fukusa may have been adjusted for the tray.

The design of this Fukusa is based on the old Japanese folk tale, Yoro(Yohro) Waterfall. The waterfall was known as the Fountain of Youth and instead of water falling, Sake wine was falling...

A very rare, quite large 10th century Tang Dynasty bowl. The porcelain body of the bowl covered with a nice yellowish green glaze. Diameter : 16,3 cm. H : 6 cm. Condition : Perfect, very nice " Ping " tone when tapped.

Fine Chinese Warring States / Western Han Dynasty Pottery Jar

This impressive pottery jar was made during the late Warring States period (475 - 221 BC) or possibly the early Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8). It is made from a relatively highly-fired fine-grained grey pottery and has a nice smooth surface. The body is decorated with two raised bands around the waist that have been impressed with geometric patterns. Around the shoulder there are two bands of impressed lines...

Large Komai Mixed Metal Box with Temple & Phoenix Marked, Meiji Period (1868-1912)

The box is 2.25 inches (6 cm) tall, and 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) in length by 4 inches (10 cm) wide.

It is in good condition with no repairs, chips, or cracks, dents, except rubbing and loss of gold, metal oxidation at the inside of the box, and unsecured hinges (as seen in the photos).

There are a total of eight signs, each with a different "saying" having to do with well wishes. Due to the age of the calligraphy, and the vagueres of the old Chinese language, accurate translations have not been possible for each sign. Each sign is carved out of wood with raised wooden characters and inlayed with MOP flakes. Each is 21 inches tall and roughly 4.5 inches wide.
