An interesting and well-shaped tea bowl, this Meiji piece surely has stories to tell. The gold repairs traversing one side of the bowl are extensive and skillfully applied, nicely complimenting the dark ferrous clay and flaxen glaze. Many find such repairs quite attractive and in this case they clearly add an extra dimension to this lovely work...

This Korean antique is a hand carved woodblock which would have been used to print a repeating decorative design pattern onto a textile. It is very old, and well worn with great patina.

"Muji Hakeme Chawan" which is brushed with white engobe over dark color paste containing iron, and then burned with clear glaze. It is made in Korea in 15th to 16th century during the Joseon Dynasty (1392∼1912). It has kintsugi (mending with urushi and gold powder). It has a paulownia matching box. Diameter:17cm Height:7.5cm

Hard porcelain bowl, produced in the Fukagawa kilns in Arita. Very artistic decor, typically Japanese, separated into two clearly distinct parts. On the one hand, two cranes in flight pass in front of misty Mount Fuji. The mountain and the sky are painted in underglaze cobalt blue and it is the absence of color which draws the clouds. The birds are in white, black and red enamels, they are meticulously drawn...

Admirable Japanese antique tetsubin (tea pot), made of cast iron. On the body, Kanji symbols are raised with the following message: Pine Tree, Longevity, 1000 years in the mud, really low, always a master. The idea is "Out of the mud comes the master". On the opposite side, designs of a crab, water lily, full leaf and half leaf. The handle is uniquely shaped. The lid is of bronze with a flower bud as the lid handle. The lid is is also signed, Kijudo. Age: Meiji Period...

A rare and very finely enamelled small vase. On the base is the iron red hall mark - Ju ren tang zhi - "Made for the hall where one dwells in benevolence". The mark is often attributed to the brief reign of the Honxian emperor (circa 1915- 1916) but this item was probably made a little later. Condition - excellent, no damages and no restoration...

Beautiful agate carved into a flower basket, extremely detailed. The basket has a handle with removable string attached. The basket itself has almost a flower pot shape to it, with a maze-like design carved around its sides. 19th century boxwood netsuke of a reclining deer with its head turned back, hooves bent beneath its body. Perfectly captured moment, wonderful sense of volume, excellent texture of its coat, beautiful patina. Length 1 3/4 inches.

A Ming blue and white fruit pattern bowl in good condition

Very fine Chinese antique belt hook carved in the shape of a knot with a butterfly on either end, made of beautiful mottled jade ranging from white to grey to bright blue/green, a silver fitting on the back was added later to convert this clothing hook to a pin or broach.

Japanese Early Meiji Period Gosho Ningyo (Palace Doll) depicted with a gift box with Daruma and featuring a crane. He is wearing a fitted silk crepe haragake bib tied at the neck and waist. He has a delightfully rendered face with a bright expression, slightly open mouth, and painted features. His forehead has a painted auspicious mizuhiki (presentation ribbon). He is covered overall in a fine white gofun (oyster shell lacquer). 4.5h x 4.5w inches, 11.5h x 11.5w cm.

He is temperamental but compassionate towards the sick and needy, who he heals using special medicine from the gourd he carries around his waist.
