This is an fine Japanese Cloisonne Koro in nearly mint condition. It has been used and some of the smoke residue can be seen on the underside of the lid. There are no damages and virtually wear to the gold. The koro stands 4 1/4 inches tall and is 3 1/2 inches wide.

An elaborately decorated Japanese porcelain elephant with applied beads of enamel and large areas of gold trim. There is a large five point gold leaf centered on its' back. Late Meiji period (1890s to 1912) Japanese wooden kushi (hair comb) with black and gold lacquer decoration of pine saplings and flowering prunus branches, design continuing onto the back. Nice pairing of the two out of the Three (third being bamboo) Friends of Winter. Antique Japanese tetsubin (kettle for heating water for tea) made of cast iron and decorated with a dragon in swirling clouds. The highly raised design depicts a dragon curling itself around the body of the pot. The clouds over hang in a ledge above the base. There is a large raised cartouche on the back underneath this ridge. The lid is made of bronze.
