An unusual Arita porcelain tea pot styled after a cast-iron example. The textured surface is described as “nail head” when it appears on an iron tetsubin. Late 18th ~ early 19th century.

The Shibata Museum compendium has a pot of similar shape and cartouche, no nail head texture or iron dressing  but with additional cobalt decoration, item#3782.  1780~1820.

This example is approximately 17.5 cm high. The handle has a very obvious stress crack but no other problem...

An unusual low bowl with the primary subject of a Minogame, a symbol of longevity, decorated in somenishikide style in underglaze blue with additional enamels. The three Lobate reserves outlined in underglaze blue with yellow enamels framing an iron red ground inset with an auspicious minogame set against an iron red diaper ground. Each reserve divided by a stylised symmetric floral arrangement of a Poppy flower surrounded with foliage in underglaze blue and gilt detailing...

A high quality "Porcelain for Palaces" type Arita dish with foliate rim in Imari export style decorated in the full Imari five colour palette principally with Irises, Peonies and Chrysanthemums, with Fence-work and Plum trees and a central motif of Peonies. A pair of Arita, probably the Higuchi kiln at Nangawara, Celadon square form mukuzuke, decorated with alternating panels of Immortals and a Landscape, probably an evocation of Penglai (Horai-san) the Isle of the Immortals all painted in a combination of kinsai gilding combined with iron red and green enamels. Gilding to the rims, kin-beni. The mukuzuke measure approximately 10.5cm diagonally and stand 7cm high...

This old wood netsuke figure is 3 inches tall and 1 inch wide. It depicts a long haired, bearded sage (or hermit) holding a staff. It is not signed and is in great condition.

Urn-shaped earthenware vase with decoration of a lady and a boy dancing. Subtle crackle-glaze in shades of peach and pink, with gilt and white moriage (slip) articulations on an olive-green background. Unmarked, but with Japanese handwriting on sticker. Meiji period (1868-1912). There is a drilled hole to the base, for a lamp wire. Height "9½/ 25 cm. Condition: fine. Please note that the white patches near the foot rim on the photos are just reflexions.

The lacquered case opens to reveal a molded earthenware figure of Fudo Myoo, one of the 'five great kings of ligh.” The ceramic figure has an old, restuck break horizontally across the top of the base, otherwise it is in very good condition. The figure sits neatly into a carved recessed part of the interior base of the case. The case is lacquered a brownish black and is in good condition. Acquired in Kyoto in the early 1970s.

Beautiful antique Japanese Imari pair of gourd shaped dishes with blossoming cherry tree design. Seal in blue on the bottom. Age: Late Meiji Period. Size: 6.5" length x 5" height.

Japanese 32 Sword Scabbards Tray, set in Wood Frame-top and shaped bottom Tray, Meiji period, 13 1/4" x 8" wide, 1 1/2" high, and Scabbard-1" high, 1 3/8" wide for each Scabbard, include Shark's skin, various techniques Lacquered design, none of them are same, all different lacquered Scabbard, tray has rounded corners on top and short rounded bracket feet on the bottom. All the Scabbards are in good condition but wood on the bottom shows two(2) cracks between 5" to 9" long.

A bag made of deer skin with indigo dye hemp rope. It was used for coins which were distributed among citizens in Edo period. Paper moneys were issued later, in Meiji period (1868~1912). The first half of the 19th century. 26cm x 62cm

A simple yet artistic Seto ware jar. The jar is done in a creme base with a brown and green color drip glaze surrounding the piece. The style of glazes is reminiscent of the expressions seen Japanese earthenwares of Seto, Tanba, or Kyoto. The work contains a signature-like inscription on the bottom which reads, Sanshun. Age: 19th-20th century. Size: Height 9" Diameter 9.1"

Two small Japanese porcelain dishes used for small side servings or morsels - both decorated with blue underglaze and polychrome overglaze enamels. One with asymmetric floral decoration and gilt foliate rim and spurious Chenghua mark inside the foot. The other octagonal with dragon decoration in the cavetto surrounded by flowering karakusa enclosed within alternating red and blue panels and the verso with geometric patterns...

Almost square fukusa, or ceremonial cover, made of silk, hand-decorated in yuzen dye technique (mineral colors and gold flakes) and with gold thread embroidery. Image of two open folding fans, connected with red noshi-threads. On the top fan are chrysanthemums along a stream; the bottom fan is decorated with cranes flying above pine trees near the sea...

Japanese small Tansu, Meiji period, late 19th Century, 21" high, 22" wide, 11" deep, one(1) long drawer above three(3) short drawers on the left side, hidden drawers behind blind door on the right side, mounted with heavy black iron hardware. The condition is all original, as found condition and the lock compartment inside is missing.
