A really old Japanese lacquer wooden mizusashi for the tea ceremony, made of cherry wood with its original lacquered lid. It dates from the later Edo Period. Such wooden mizusashis are really rare. It is elegantly proportioned and has a black lacquered interior.

Unusual porcelain bowl in the shape of a double gourd with two separate compartments. The large section is for washing brushes; the small section may be used as a brush holder.
The outside of the large bowl is decorated in underglaze blue with pavilions in a landscape with mountains and a river. The edge is faceted and painted with cloud-like shapes. The outside of the smaller extension is decorated with stylized flowers. Ribbed knob on top (19-petaled chrysanthemum).

Very beautiful and rare scene in ink and natural color pigments on a background of gold leaf and gold spangles of a Chinese scholar surrounded by students or disciples. He is leaning on a table where his tablets, brushes and a basket are placed. He observes a flight of wild geese over a rocky mound, a pine tree and a body of water that ripples among the reeds. 19th Century, Boxwood Netsuke finely hand-carved boxwood netsuke depicting a seated Hotei, the god of Contentment and Happiness, smiling and holding a Fan on his right hand. Signed Shogyoku on the bottom of the netsuke. Nice compact form; wonderful symmetry and patina. Netsuke measures 1.60 inches (4.,0cm) in diameter, and 1.15 inches (2.9cm) tall. It is in excellent condition, as you may be able to see in the posted photos.
