Chinese Export Porcelain Platter made for American Market, circa 1800, 14 1/2" x 11 3/4" wide, 1 1/4" high, dark orange color rim and floral decoration in the center are all done overglaze enamel and highlighted in brilliant gold. Some gold finish rubbed off around the rim and small floral decorated area in the center. No damage or restoration.

Late 18th to early 19th century bronze suigaraake (ashtray) netsuke in classic bowl shape with cast decoration on the outside of 2 birds by bamboo stalks with leaves. Very well designed piece, good detailing, functional netsuke shape, hanged by a bronze ring. Nice old piece with pleasant patina on metal, the inside of the still containing ash residue. Diameter 1 5/8 inches.

This is Fukusa of beautiful hand embroidery made in Kyoto in the Edo era.(1800-1867) As for the embroidery, the thread which gold leaf was rolled round is used and is made all by hand. The surface does not have a stain and the damage. And there are a few stains to the lining. It does not stand out. This is embroidery of a lucky bird. A pair of hanging scrolls by Kano Dohaku Chikanobu (1772-1821), a famous Edo period painter, 5th head of the Surugadai branch of the Kano School. In 1813 he received the honorary title of "Okurakyo-Hogen" (law of the eye).The pair contains an image of three geese set near a marshland with reeds. Scroll comes with box that woud be of the period. Age: Mid-Edo Period( 1800-1820). Size per scroll: Height: 70.25" Width: 14.25" (with ends) 16.25".

A Chinese jade vase, carved in the form of a tall thin finger citron. The stone is of very pale hue close to the colour of the pictures, the body is thinly rendered and the exterior well detailed. It comes with its own custom made wood stand. Age: 18/19 C. size: 10 cm high. condition: very good, no breaks , no restoration.

Early 19th Century Japanese Wood Netsuke: ACROBAT

This is a finely hand carved, Early 19th Century Wood Netsuke depicting an Acrobat, who is wearing a fundoshi and sports an Eboshi hat on his head, demonstrating his contortionist skills by placing his left leg over the back of his head.

Very nice carving with great, glossy patina. Unsigned. It measures 1.60 inches (4.0cm) wide, and 1.58 inches (4.0cm) tall. It is in excellent condition, as shown in the posted photos...

Early 19th century Chinese pewter covered tea caddy of round section with brass inlays of 3 bats with outstretched wings around its body and a SHOW (long life) character on top of the cover. Bats and SHOW character are a reference to the Chinese rebus about blessings of longevity. Wonderful quality precise work with wealth of details (see fur marks on their chests)). Hallmarked on the bottom, double wall to the cover providing better humidity control inside the caddy...

This is nanako-weave (regular mat weane)silk katsugi kimono very rare of the Edo era(1800-1867). katsugi kimono of nanako- texture silk is very rare. It draw it by hand and dye . Small Buddhist lion in almost solid cast bronze. The object is heavy. Beautiful active and fierce expression. Details meticulously chiselled with precision. It is probably work from Vietnam or South China. A very beautiful bronze patina announces a 19th century period or before. Underneath there is no fastening mark, so it was not the grip button of a lid. Not a weight either because part of the underside is hollow. Hight: 6cm. Fine condition.

Early 19th century netsuke of Chinese official, poet and calligrapher Toba with a bundle of books on his back riding on a mule accompanied by an attendant. Toba was removed from his post and sent into exile as a result of intrigues against him. Wonderful unhappy face, nice flow to his clothes, beautiful wear and patina turning yellow on the back where netsuke was touching the silk of kimono, compressed dust in crevices...

This is a japanese antique very rare Ramie( choma )child kimono used for edo in Kyoto. This is dyed in natural indigo plant and Benibana. This is colored the both sides into in Katozome. This hemp is spun by hand. This has five places of small stains, but does not stand out. There is no damage really. The state is complete. Size 123cmx 121cm (38.1 "x 38.9 ")

Early 19th century boxwood netsuke of seated Thunder God Raiden, his drums that he uses to create thunder behind his back. Wonderful face with a touch of madness, excellent detailing, beautiful patina. There is an old restoration to a section of his scarf under the left arm - see left photo on Enlargement 5.
