Late 18th to early 19th century bronze suigaraake (ashtray) netsuke in classic bowl shape, its outside cast with a gnarled branch of a flowering prunus tree. A metal alloyed Monk figure was heavily cast.
By well carved flouring lines on the robe, the deity was in serene mood in meditation posture.
It was preserved in very good condition with darken patina, rust surface.

A similar porcelain Ding piece of Song Dynasty can be a counterpart in the last picture.

Date: Song/Yuan periods, 12th/13th Centuries.
