A brass wired green and brick red dragon writhes about the brown goldstone surface of this early Meiji 14" charger.

Condition: Good, with pitting usual to pieces of the period and a couple of slight nicks to the brass rim. No chips, hairlines or repairs.

The body is formed by a fairly thinly turned jade tube that is fitted with a turned hardwood plug for the base. The wooden bottom is visible on the interior base of the jade tube and it is turned to form a stand that compliments the simplicity of the jade form. The jade is slightly yellowish to pale celadon and has white veining on one side with brown inclusions on the other, creating patterns resembling clouds or a landscape...

This fine silver wired 3" x 2.5" box is from one of the better studios. A single bird descends from a blooming prunus tree, the trunk of which extends down the front side of the box against a ground of blue so dark it appears black. The mounts are of silvered brass.

Condition: Good, there is minor scuffing to the bottom and an old repair to the upper left edge of the lid.

A large Yuan 13th - 14th century longquang celadon dish, rounded side with flattened rim and deep center, decorate with large dragon chasing flaming pearl motif at the center, inner wall decorate with carved weave motif, outer wall decorate with raised lotus petal motif, covered with green glaze...

A richly enameled and well modeled Kannon seated upon a purple scrolled tailed beast of green. Measuring 10" in height and 10" in length, the figure is well preserved. There is a chip to the right foot of the Kannon and three enamel flakes to the hair. No cracks or repairs.

A fine early 18th Century blue and white bowl attractively painted to the exterior with a continuous scene of ladies at leisure in a fenced riverside garden. The interior is painted with a central roundel of the Three Friends of Winter. The base carries the six character mark of the Yongzheng Emperor and was made during his reign (1723-1735)...

A woven square taken from the front of a Chinese Emperor's robe with a front facing dragon in couched gold and a constellation symbol. Yellow (or apricot yellow) robes could only be worn by the Emperor or Empress. The color has faded and changed to this current tan color. Each Emperor's robe had twelve symbols of Imperial Authority embroidered on it in specific places. We can see "The Constellation" which represents the handles of Ursa Major, the Big Dipper, just above the dragon's head...

This solid porcelain water pot fits comfortably in the hand and its size and heavy weight indicates dual use as a paperweight for the calligrapher’s table. The form is that of a Chinese drum with bosses encircling the perimeter of the top and bottom imitating nail heads. The underglaze blue decoration is hastily painted with floral-like flourishes around the side. The top is painted with four Chinese characters around the central opening for containing water...

Guangxu sealmark and period, 1874-1908

This orange-brown pottery brush pot, possibly produced at the Yixing Kilns, is hand-sculpted to simulate an old gnarled tree trunk with various crevices, stumps of limbs and peeling bark. It is incised with two Chinese characters, one in archaistic style, the other in cursive script. On the base, there is an impressed Guangxu sealmark. Though unglazed, it has an old patina from use and possibly remnants of colorless lacquer...

An unidentified hard wood was used to carve this set of 4 matching wooden saucers. They would have been used for tea bowls and have traditional red/orange lacquer paint over a treebark carved pattern on the front surface. Each saucer was carved into a diamond shape with gently curved sides and are each was carved into a thin, shallow bowl shape. This is a rare and unusual set in very good condition.

Each piece measures 5 inches x 4 inches and 1 inch deep.
