A quintessential Iga vase dating from the Edo period, the rough clay covered in thick ash glaze. It is viciously charred, testament to the tempest in the kiln, with molten ash flowing freely over the surface. A Korean, celadon, brush washer of foliate form; Goryeo dynasty. Delicately potted as a flower, with petals rising from the wide base; a nice piece for the scholar's desk. Moulded decoration to the interior. Diameter; 9.2 cm Condition; finely crackled throughout, a small chip to one of the petals. See photo.

Very interesting with a bird-headed deity seated in front of a fierce winged demon standing on the back of an animal; with multiple creatures, insect-like and other animals on the entire surface.

A large antique Japanese Kotansu made of Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. Two sliding doors open to a spacious storage area with two small drawers to the side and two full width drawers below. Unusual size that would make the perfect night stand or side cabinet in any room decor.

A rare iron hanging censer in the shape of a Mongolian Saddle Stirrup (Abumi) with silver mesh lid covering half the top. It comes in an age-darkened and worm-eaten kiri-wood box titled simply Tsuri Koro. The receptacle is 13.5 x 7 x 15 cm (5-1/2 x 3 x 6 inches) and is in excellent condition, dating from the Edo period.

Dark brown natural wood suzuribako (writing set) with polychrome takamaki-e lacquer decoration of toys, with a rabbit on its cushion and a horse head to ride with its cover.

A striking Peacock feather colored flambe glazed vase by Leading Kyoto Potter Uno Ninmatsu enclosed in a signed wooden box dated the 10th month of Showa 5 (October 1930). It is 28 cm tall and in excellent condition.
Uno Ninmatsu (1864-1937) was born in Kyoto son of potter Wada Sohei and studied under his father as well as from a young age Seifu Yohei II then future Imperial Art Academy artist Seifu Yohei III until setting up his own studio at the age of 21...

This is a very finely cast Tibetan bronze fragment dating to the 17th century or possibly earlier. It depicts a wrathful deity, possibly Vajrabhairava, complete with finely modeled skull crown/tiara to the wrathful head. Please have a look at the photos and feel free to ask any questions. the piece measures 2.5" in height (6.25cm), not including the custom base. Exceptionally well cast with very fine detail. Not easy to find these days

Antique Japanese single section mizuya (kitchen tansu). Made with sugi (cryptomeria) wood and hinoki (Japanese cypress) wood refinished to reveal the beauty of the natural wood grain. Iron hardware with round lock plates and warabite shaped drawer pulls. The tansu has three large drawers on the right and a compartment with sliding panels over two smaller drawers on the left.

Beautifully encapsulating the Japanese aesthetic of wabi sabi, this cast iron tea kettle has an elegance that far outshines more ornate versions of this ceremonial implement. Likely from Meiji, the craftsmanship is excellent, the overall proportions ideal, and the texture of the metal very pleasing...

Furoshiki (wrapping cloth) with tsutsugaki auspicious motifs of seven treasures (takara-zukushi), which is made of hand-woven cotton and vegetable indigo dye. Tsutsugaki is paste-resist-dye and colors are added with mostly pigments. Treasures are: sacred jems, cloves, a lucky mullet, a hiding hat, a coat, citruses and so on. It is made in Kyushu in Meiji period (1868～1912)　In good condition except for three mending patches and some tiny holes. 94cm x 124cm

The androgynous Kannon sits in meditation under climbing rocks and tumbling waves deeply carved into the side of this bamboo incense container dating from the early 20th century (late Meiji to Taisho period). It is 34 cm long (13-1/2 inches) long and in excellent condition, a superb example of the genre. This would have been used to hold incense sticks.

Small cast bronze incense burner. Ding (tripod) shape. Beautiful casting and neat finish. The sobriety of the decor and the perfection of the volumes giving this small creation a powerful yet elegant appearance suggest that it is a very old censer, probably from the Song period. An excellent very old patina stained with verdigris in places would be compatible with this earlier period. Height 82mm. Fine condition.
