In the middle, there is an inscription written about the history of Chinese coin minting technology. The calligraphy is titled: Gu Qian Ton Shuo, the story of the ancient coins. A rare Seto Chawan with wonderful glaze made by one of the best potters of the early 20th century - the 1st Shuntei Kato (1885 - 1961). This tea bowl was made over 100 years ago and it comes with the originally signed wooden box of the artist.

His real name is Kanae KATO. He was born 1885 as the third son of Shunsen KATO.

Set of 4 interesting Chinese Yuan dynasty brown glaze dishes with sea wave decorations and unknown scripts, most likely Phags pa script, an alphabet designed by the Tibetan monk and State Preceptor as a unified script for the written languages within the Yuan. This is Japanese shallow bowl from the great porcelain factory, Fukagawa. It is beautifully decorated throughout with an intense boarder of hand painting and gold work on the scalloped edge. It is in excellent condition. The bowl measures 9 3/4 across and is 2 inches deep.
