A Japanese handled mirror, e-kagami, decorated with a Hoo Bird in flight, a harbinger of Peace, combined with Waka Matsu, Young Pine, a common motif associated with the celebration with the New Year. The design can therefore be seen as symbolising a wish for a Peaceful New Year.
In the right hand portion of the mirror reverse is a set of four characters reading Fujiwara Mitsunaga...

A Chinese, Jizhou kiln, bowl with an abstract ash-splashed decoration to the interior. Southern Song; C12-13th. The variagated, brown glaze stops above the well-cutt foot, exposing the pale-buff coloured paste.
Diameter, 11 cm.
Provenance: from the deceased estate of a North Yorkshire collector; acquired in China in the first half of the C20th.
Condition: There is an old area of repair to the inner rim; approx 2 cm long...

Tall Chinese Western Han Dynasty Painted Pottery Vase / Jar (Feng Ping)
This attractively-shaped pottery jar was made during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8). It is relatively highly-fired and has been made from flat slabs of pottery that have been luted together in imitation of an archaic bronze vessel. A sample book of wa-sarasa (Japanese sarasa) with 106 fragments on 43 sheets of paper board, mostly made in Meiji period (1869~1912) and some from early Taisho period (1910s). Originally it has 45 sheets, but 2 (3rd and 20th) are lost. The dye techniques are katazome (stencil-resist-dye) and print. The book is published by Kyoto Shoin in Showa 42 (1967). The 4th among limited 60 issues. 27cm x 35cm x 5cm.

Antique Pre-Columbian Mayan circa 500 to 900 A.D. terracotta head fragment adorned with one ear spool.
CONDITION: The item shows signs of age and use with patina and earthen deposits. It is also chipped.
MEASUREMENTS: Height: 6.4 cm (2 1/2 in).
PROVENANCE: The object came from a private Canadian collection of antiques and was sold by a reputable Canadian auction house in the 1980s.
This is very a haori coat of the patchwork of the paper and silk of the highest class in Edo period(1800-1867) . This is an item of a rare museum class.
The print is massaged by the hand. (chirime-hanga)The haori coat that sews and matched the print and silk. The check on the part of the sleeve is Akita hachijyo.
The lining is silk and cotton. There is no stain. There is a damage part. It is very wonderful.

This is an ancient bronze short sword from Northwestern Iran. It has a choice, predominantly blue patina mottled with green and red. The lower half of the hilt is basically ovoid in hape with a lappet-flanged area on both broad surfaces. Flanged areas often held inlays of wood or bone but a lappet flange of this type was probably a decoration in and of itself.
