Very Rare Chinese Northern Dynasties Painted Pottery Horse with Oxford TL Test

This extremely rare pottery model of a saddled horse was made during the Northern Dynasties period (AD 386 - 581). It is rather naively modelled from a dense grey pottery that is fairly high-fired. The body has been cold-painted in reddish-brown, black and white pigments whilst the upper surface of the base is painted white.

Antique Japanese light weight Jingasa (Samurai hat) made with a basketweave bamboo and paper coated in black and red lacquer. The front of the hat has the gilt paulownia leaf mon (family crest) with the top decorated with a three prong yari forming a trident.

A very early and rare pair of wooden twins, Nigeria, Yoruba, probably deep into the 19th. cent.

The fine set with blue pigments on their large headdresses, eyes with inlaid metal, tribal tatoos and addorned with jewelry. A very early pair with an exceptional patina and remnants of pigments on both headdresses and body.This pair was part of Lau Sundes personal collection, see below.

This is a classical form Song dynasty small moulded longquan or celadon dish with appliqué twin fish in the centre and an everted flatten flatten mouth rim. The exterior is moulded with an overlapping upright lotus petal radiating from the foot. The dish is glazed with an uneven light green colour with glaze crazing.

There is no crack, repair or restoration...

Japanese early 20th century cloisonne vase by the Tamura Cloisonne Company. The blue colored vase has a large and beautiful yellow rose blossom. the silver toned metal rims appear to be chrome. The vase measures 9 7/8" tall and 6" in diameter. The vase comes with TOMOBAKO, the original artist signed wooden storage box.

DESCRIPTION: A good Chinese scholar’s brushpot, carved in deep relief with a continuous mountain landscape scene framed by gnarled pine trees and depicting two groups of scholars, some examining a scroll and others in a boat. The base and rim are encased in hardwood and the pot is engraved with a two line inscription. Very good condition, latter Qing Dynasty, 19th to early 20th C. DIMENSIONS: 6 ½” high (16.5 cm) x 6” diameter (15.2 cm).

A very rare Burmese 17th Century excavated bronze Buddha with 5 Elephants on the base (3 on the front and 1 on each side). Good condition, naturally formed patina. No damage or restorations whatsoever. Size 14.5 cm x 5.5 cm (5.75" x 2.5"). This Buddha is elaborately adorned and very difficult to come by.

Low bodied Attic jug with horizontal flanges at the belly and the base. The beaked spout flanked by two applied knobs rendered as rotelles. The high-swung strap handle from neck to shoulder.
The cushion shaped top with five delicate palmette stamps linked by very fine incised arcs.
The reserved incurving area between the flanges and the broad flat base show the distinct orange-red color of Attic clay.

This shallow form bowl is decorated in a famille rose palette with vibrant overglaze enamels in the standard pattern known in the West as pseudo tobacco leaf. The form and paste of the dish is that of the Qianlong Period. There are some small nicks to the rim from use and a tiny rim nick infill.
