A simple yet artistic Seto ware jar. The jar is done in a creme base with a brown and green color drip glaze surrounding the piece. The style of glazes is reminiscent of the expressions seen Japanese earthenwares of Seto, Tanba, or Kyoto. The work contains a signature-like inscription on the bottom which reads, Sanshun. Antique Japanese tall banner for Boy's Day celebration, two mon (family crests), scene depicting a noted scene from a noh play called Takasago. The two old couples represent the wish for a couple to be together till the end. The rake represents raking in fortune and the broom for sweeping away misfortune and bad energy. A crane above and an ancient turtle below, both also symbolic of longevity. The banner is painted in mineral pigments on cotton.

The basic fabric is a linen weave with black stripes. The ends are embroidered with a striped camel carrying a coffin to Mecca, in polychrome threads and decorated with fold silvered metal. This is a fine Japanese Satsuma sake pot or small teapot. It is signed by Kinkozan. It measures 4 1/2 inches across at the spout. The handle is slightly tattered but the pot is in excellent condition.
A lovely and rare Chaffers Liverpool porcelain miniature tea bowl, hand painted with three sprigs of flowers, the interior with a pair of leaves, the rim painted with a puce color. Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, or restoration. The enameling is vibrant with no loss. Apparent losses in some spots are due to lighting in the photos, and are not present in person. The height is 1" and the top diameter is 1 5/8".

They have 6 lobes around the rim. They are made of hard paste translucent porcelain. They are decorated in the style that Sevres used. This Japanese netsuke is a lovely example of deer antler carved into a duo of abalone shells, the smaller resting on the surface of the larger shell. The piece has a wonderful old patina and is very tactile to the touch. The himotoshi are large and deep and there appears to be a very worn signature to the underside. This netsuke is in good condition with no damage.
DESCRIPTION: A very handsome antique Chinese Yu mu (Northern Chinese Elm) bed with carved center apron and stout, inward turning horse-hoof feet. The rectangular top of this bed is inset with rattan, supported by strong woven webbing underneath. Yu mu, or Northern Elm, has an elaborate and beautiful wave-like grain and is favored for Northern Chinese furniture.

This porcelain sucrier or covered sugar bowl was produced in Paris, France in the late 18th century. It is unmarked with the exception of some incised unidentifiable marks. A large antique Meiji period Kutani plate decorated with motifs of peonies set in the center of the plate surrounded by gold scrolling vines and stylized flowers.
