Small box and cover made of very thinly cut keyaki (Zelkova) wood, in oblong shape with rounded corners. The domed cover is decorated in black polished lacquer, black ishime lacquer, gold lacquer inlaid with small pieces of mother-of-pearl. An open folding fan wraps around the surface of the cover, continuing onto the sides, decorated with parting clouds, showing silhouettes of birds flying over waves.

Inside, the surface is covered in thin brown lacquer, allowing the wood grain to show...

A striking late 19th Century Chinese Blue & White bulbous lidded Jar. One side has centering underglaze blue shaped rockwork issuing auspicious blossoming stems. Surmounted by a conforming original lid enclosing 3 stylized spread winged bats and a bud form finial. Comes with a nice hardwood Chinese stand. Good condition overall with normal wear. Chinese porcelain vase beautifully decorated with birds and flowers in "Qianjiangcai" style - a popular porcelain painting style during the second half of 19th century to the first 2 decades of 20th century. This late Qing dynasty vase is in excellent condition - the only flaw is a chip inside the foot rim. Height: 5-1/8"; width: 6".

Old mask of the Noh traditional theater representing the character of Yamauba or Yamamba, with an emaciated face, dishevelled hair, and a sinister smile. The mask is made of wood, painted to ehance its features, and with brass eyes. The mask is signed. Japan, early 20th century. Height: 21 cm. Being of both simple and elegant design, this small religious shrine is so typical of Japanese aesthetics. It is made from Cedar wood and dated on the back as "Showa, 2nd year, March 17. Approximately 5" high and 3" wide.

Wonderful antique Russian cigarette box, fully hallmarked with AK 84 mark, depicting foliage design and gilded cupid with bow and arrows on the lid, equipped with push bottom, still retains the elastic fabric cigarette retainers. Measurements: 4 1/4" x 3" and in very good condition.

Very unusual 1900s (late Meiji) miniature Japanese bronze reliquary to be worn as a pendant or used on a house altar. Beautifully made crisp image of Amida Buddha modeled on the Great Buddha of Kamakura, front and back are hinged on the bottom and open to reveal small storage space for a tiny object of religious significance to the owner...

Each plate has the design of a single chrysanthemum (kiku) shifted towards the left side of the plate … but they were carved in a way that each has a life of its own. None of them look the same. The design is sharply cut into thick layers of black urushi lacquer – tsuikoku. It is known to be a difficult job – this later lead to Kamakura bori(carving) which is a technique of lacquering on carved wood. The plates are very light. It indicates a high quality, matured wood inside...

A bulbous vase finely painted in Famille rose enamels, the decoration depicting the eight horses of Mu Wang, the Queen Mother of the West. Four-character Qianlong mark in over-glaze blue to the base. Height "9/ 23 cm. Condition: severe damage and repair to the neck (cf. pics).

Antique Chinese porcelain planter. Circular in form with foliate rim. The body of the planter is decorated with a colorful enamel scene of frolicking horses. A meadow landscape is beginning it's spring time blossoming of fruit trees and willows bear new leaves. Low mountains rise up in the distance and birds fly over a pond. Possibly painted by Lao Sholing who was famous for his depictions of horses...

A very well painted Chinese hat stand. This would be considered transitional late Qing 1906-1911 to pre 1920, my guess is that it is just after the Qing period. The colors and enamel painting feature the God of Longevity with boys at play. Beautifully painted tree with flowers at bloom. The condition is perfect with exception of minor gold rubbing, other than that it is perfect and ready to display. Measures 11" high x 4.75" across

Gorgeous Japanese lacquer box with allover gilt lacquer designs over black lacquer backgrounds with gold flakes. The front has two drawers with a crane flying beside a pine tree in lacquer. The top opens into two compartments with hinged lids decorated with a phoenix and a cherry tree. Panels of floral scenes with lucky motifs decorate the sides. Signed tomobako included. Dates from the Meiji period 1868-1912. Size: 6.25" H x 11" W x 10.5" D

This antique traditional tribal dagger was made and used by the Manding people who are indigenous to the Western Sudan region of Africa. The dagger is 10 inches long and has a leather covered pommel. The blade is dulled and rusted with a small bend at the tip. The original matching scabbard has traditionally woven worked leather decoration with belt loop and tassel.

Chinese Monochrome Sancai Hexagonal Dragon Vase, Ca. 1920, 7" high, 4" wide, 3" deep, with Monochrome sancai high relief molded Dragon Vase, high relief Dragon on both side under broad leaf border around the neck. Impressed mark "China" in English on the glazed bottom, the condition is good, no damages.
