Chinese Western Han Dynasty Painted Pottery Ding Tripod

This pottery tripod vessel, or "ding", was made during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8). It is made from a relatively highly-fired grey pottery. The body stands on three sturdy integral feet. On opposite sides at the waist are two square-cut handles. The cover has been decorated with cold-painted brown and creamy-white pigments. On top of the dome-shaped cover are three equally-spaced protrusions...

Description: A black-glazed, narrowed-neck bottle vase was squeezed and applied on shoulder with four small looped handles.
Well applied on the surface with dark glaze which was in greasy feel and was yielded with immensely spread crackles due to age, it was sat on a flat bottom from which the grayish white-tinted body clay was revealed.

Date: Southern Dynasty南朝, 5th-6th century.

Provenance: Deqing kiln德清窯, Zhejiang Province...

Neolithic era ceramic amphora, Yangshao Culture, Yellow River area, China. This baluster form vessel is made with a narrow neck and slightly flared rim. High shoulders taper downward to a narrow foot. Two strap handles are attached just below the center of the body. Painted with geometric patterns in red and black mineral pigments.

Age: Yangshao Culture (5000-3000 B.C.)

Fine Large Chinese Neolithic Banshan Painted Pottery Jar

This impressive pottery jar was, incredibly, made around 4,500 years ago during the Banshan Phase (c. 2600 - 2300 BC) of the Majiayao culture, also known as the Gansu-Yangshao culture, from present day Gansu or Qinghai province.

This jar is made from a relatively highly-fired pale reddish pottery. For its size it is relatively thinly-potted. It has two sturdy loops handles on opposing side of the waist...

Tang terra cotta image of a Fat Lady. Traces of original pigment. Miniatures are extremely rare. H: Some shallow chips at the bottom- noted in enlargements. H: 7.8cm.

A very attractive large stamp seal of the hemispheric design / round gable form, Late Ubaid to Uruk period of central-northern Mesopotamia, 4th. millenium BC.

Finely polished seal in a nice black serpentine stone, and carved with a scarce and peculiar pattern of cross angles under symethric horisontal lines!

Size: 31 mm. in diameter.

Condition: Nice VF, some smooth wear but intact and with a nice ancient patina...

2023 is the Year of Hare in Chinese Lunar Calendar.
Here is an ancient marble weight which was carved as a hare in crouching posture.
It was believed being used as a stone weight in 6th century to 9th century.
Well carved in vivid look, the piece was left on the suface with ancient residues in the crevices of the limbs.
The stone quality was in greasy and smooth feel.
It was well preserved despite some defects on four corners of the base...

A scarce and interesting Cylinder-stamp, found around Antiochia, probably, dating around 2nd. mill. BC, though the collectors dated this seal much earlier (see picture of his ID-cards)...

Rare gilt bronze pendant, of circular form, with a finely embossed decoration representing a soldier beating a seated man with a whip, the whole scene surrounded by geometric design. Small cylindrical loop for attachement to a necklace. Nice patina. Bactrian Civilisation, ca. 500 BC. Diameter: 9.3 cm. Very good condition. A pair of nicely formed hollow glazed pottery birds. Both have round plump figures and lots of character. The darker bird has two glazes - a brown splash of glaze that runs over a straw glaze. The lighter bird has a celadon colored glaze. The glaze on both birds have a very fine crackle.

Period: Tang (7th-10th Century)

Size: Both birds approximately 4.7 cm high.

Condition: Good. normal wear from age. Left foot on brown bird is chipped but is not visible unless turned ...
