Superb quality, antique European pair of solid silver marriage spoons. The spoons have a deep oval bowl with an elaborate stem. The front and back of the stems are finely hand-chiseled and engraved, and the finials are in the form of a 17th-century bust of a woman. An iconographic scene of the Great Babylonian King and a high priest, both bearded and wearing long dresses, on either side of the alter of the Moon god Sin, probably in the version of local patron Nabu.
