A very good sterling silver wine bottle or decanter coaster by Gorham. The flared lip is heavily decorated with a floral scrolled border in the Rococo style. The repousse decoration is finely done. The bottom of the coaster is fully hallmarked with one of the older Gorham hallmarks, the design copyright date 1889, the pattern number 325 and the date symbol for 1891.

This is an uchikake robe (outer kimono gown) probably used as Kabuki stage costume. The bottom and the openings of sleeves are thickly padded with cotton stuffing. The design is large paulownia leaves and flowers. The exterior and liner are both thick cotton. This robe is old, and a little soiled but the fabrics still have not lost it’s strength.

Fantastic Meiji Period c.1885 earthenware storage jar from Shigaraki, one of Japan's pottery and cermics centers In Edo (17th, 18th) and Meiji Period 1868-1912. Wood fired in a 'nobori gama' climbing kiln, the natural ash glazes produce startling textures and patterns. The Shigaraki clays have 'choseki' or white stone which means long life. This is a tall and handsome classical pouch ewer from the Liao dynasty(907-1125). It is of museum quality standing on a splay foot rim with recessed base rising upwards to a slander bulging side body with a long vertical spout with straight mouth rim and a rounded pinched handle. The whole pouch ewer is coated with dark amber glaze on a white colour slip stopping short of the splay foot rim showing the reddish colour stoneware. The stoneware pouch ewer simulates a leather form of the pouch.

This ceramic bowl was produced in France by Longwy in the late 19th century. It is not signed, but the workmanship and style of the bowl are characteristic of the Longwy factory. It measures 5 1/4 inches across the top and 3 1/4 inches high. The bowl is 3-lobed and stands on 3 little feet. The ground color is a deep cobalt blue.
