A striking porcelain double gourd vase by the eminent Kutani potter Matsumoto Saichi V The tall shape has four raised ribs on the matt buff/white glazed body, the bottom gourd boldly painted with sets of green stripes on a tan ground. The carved melon shape agate snuff bottle is 2 ¾ inches tall, 1½ inches wide and a little bit more than 1 inch thick. The color is from beige to burgundy and it is very well hollowed. It depicts a little monkey sitting on a double gourd. The top of the bottle is carved as a small branch with leaves. The workmanship is wonderful, well carved and polished. This large and rather colorful kohiki chawan was made by Ogawa Tetsuo a specialist in slips and Korean slipware of which this pot is a classic example. The surface of the teabowl shows off a wide array of colors and visual textures with areas of gohonde fawn spots and a translucent, waxy ash glaze coving the pot. The richness of the surface makes this a rather stunning piece by Ogawa with much more activity than seen in many of his teabowls...

Large, robust Madara-Karatsu mizusashi with undulating ribs around the circumference of the pot made by Karatsu specialist, Kojima Yoshiaki. In excellent condition with its original signed box, this mizusashi measures 22 x 18cm.

There is a nearly identical example of a mizusashi by Kojima Yoshiaki in the book, MODERN JAPANESE CERAMICS, pg.75, no.54.

This stunning platter titled METEOR by Massachusetts studio Glass Artist Charles Correll, signed and dated "Correll '85" is 19 1/2" diameter. The lavender plate has a polychrome meteor image in white, grey, red-pink and yellow. The execution is superb and this vintage beauty remains in excellent condition.

Flower vase with angular shoulder and angular hip, slightly curving in on the sides and standing on a bamboo node foot. Heavy but fine gray stoneware that turned reddish brown upon firing, covered with a celadon green glaze with curved striations made by tracing with his finger. The places where the glaze is scraped back to the stoneware, the clay turned red-brown during firing. Neck covered in cream-colored glaze, inside brown speckled glaze, all typical for Mashiko.
