A narrow open-mouthed vessel decorated with autumnal trees by Ito Tozan II enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The piece could serve as a vase, but comes with a black lacquered wooden lid and is titled Mizusashi, making it rightfully a fresh water jar for the Japanese Tea Ceremony. 18th c Edo Dynasty cream colored Satsuma censer or Koro , rare design with no decoration , collected in the Satsuma province of Japan . It was said by dealers there this was a piece used most likely in the Satsuma castle privy . Condition is near perfect other than age staining and firing cracks at the bottom .Size W 9" H 7"

DESCRIPTION: A handsome rectangular Chinese chest crafted from a deep red ox leather and furnished with brass fittings. The interior still has the original blue silk lining and would have originally held scrolls or documents. Today it would make an attractive accent piece on top or underneath a cabinet or table. Good condition with some scuffing on edges; blue silk interior has some stains and small holes. This chest originated from Zhejiang Province and dates from 1920-1940...

This embroidered shield-shaped panel ("Uut kap Ilgitsh") made of thick red velvet would traditionally be one of a pair, to protect the ends of yurt poles which are tied into bunches on a pack animal's back while in transit to a new location. These bags have both protective and decorative functions. The repeating embroidered ram's horn motif in metallic couching evokes the animal art of the Central Asian steppes...

Silk kimono worn on the stage of Kyogen which is a traditional short comedic drama. It is often performed with Noh drama. The kimono is made of thin plain silk with katazome lattice pattern and brush dye for green parts. The lining is pongee silk. The dye is all vegetable and sumi. An unique carving design of jade bird from ancient Chinese Dynasty

Depicting delicate motifs in somber, predominantly blue-black combined with discrete touches of rusty red, this textile from the Savu Islands of eastern Indonesia is called a selindang. The shawls are worn by women over their shoulders, to complete their sarong attire. This textile is estimated to date to the late 20th century and is constructed by warp ikat, warp-faced, with fringes. It measures 71 x 191 cm and is in perfect condition. The dye is a natural indigo.

Japanese shin hanga woodblock print titled “Santa Fe” by Toshi Yoshida (1911-1995) dated 1971. The print is titled and dated in Japanese in the left margin. The artist’s block signature and English title are in the bottom margin. This image was printed posthumously by the Yoshida family from the original blocks. On the back in the lower corner is written in Japanese “later printing by Komatsu Heihachi.” Paper: 14 1/2” x 21 1/2" (image: 11 3/4" x 19 1/2")...

An exceptionally early work in ink and watercolor by the familiar New Mexico artist PERCY TSISETE SANDY ("KAI SA"), 1918-1974. Measurements are 6 1/2" by 4 1/4" (11 3/4" by 9" simply framed). The subject is a traditional eagle dancer of the Hopi people in full costume. The work is signed at lower right "KA-SAH", ("Red Moon"), apparently an early signature; on the old original remaining backing is written in pencil "purchased on Mother & Daddy's honeymoon 7/41"...

Large peach-shaped bowl decorated on in- and outside with a bold Rinpa design of flowering red, white and blue camellias and leaves. Over a cream-colored coarse stoneware a thin layer of cream-colored slip has been applied, on top of which overglaze blue, black, green, red, white enamels and gold.

On the outside in a white rectangular reserve with black outlines the signature Kenzan. Japan, 1950s.

Japanese Ceramic Hibachi, Showa period, early 1900's, 8 1/2" high, 9 1/2" diameter-top rim opening, 9 1/2" diameter-bottom, 13 1/2" widest middle area, with vertical blue and white stripes on the lighter powder blue background main body, and two open holes to keep the Hibachi utensils which stands on high black glazed stand, all in one(1) piece. The condition is good except glazed top rim area is pitted from many years of usage using metal utensils, and small kiln glaze popped area on the side....
