Chinese painting of grapes attributed to Luo Yin, a pupil of Pu Ru, 1896-1963. This was painted in the spring of 1970 according to the inscription. Luo Yin wrote several books about his master Pu Ru, known for his calligraphy and painting. This piece measures framed: 31.5" wide by 60.5" tall image:25" by 45". It has 4 seals.

This hat was brought back by a nurse who was in Tibet as part of a medical relief team sometime in the 80's. Hat appears to have not been worn and is in excellant condition.

Vintage Chinese ink and color on paper painting by Zhang Kuan (1921-2009) of two ducks swimming among cherry blossoms. Signed in black ink at the upper left and with three red artist's seals. Zhang Kuan was an active painter for over 50 years. By the 1960s, he began to specialize in bird and flower paintings. Measuring 46 x 47 cm this textile forms the bodice of a Hazarajat nomad's shirt (kamiz). The embroidery is an intricate combination of satin stitch (or straight stitch) and an extremely finely worked ladder stitch worked by hand on an ivory linen background. Mirrors ("shisha") are strategically placed to ward off the evil spirits ("djinn"). Estimated age: early to mid 20th century. Condition is excellent.

Embroidered purses ("bushkiri") are used by the Baluch to store and carry valuables and bridal dowry gifts. This little purse is embroidered in extremely fine satin stitch, brick stitch, and ladder stitch in silk thread, forming interlocking lozenge and chevron designs. Condition: some wear throughout. It measures 10 x 18 cm when opened, 9.5 x 10 cm when closed.

Probably used once and then packed away for another generation, this vintage silk traditional sari from Varanasi is a vibrant as the day it was loomed. A small leaf pattern of gold metallic thread dots the entire length of the deep green silk field. There is a 2 inch brocaded border on each side which also runs the length of the sari. The end panel is ornately patterned brocaded silk and makes extensive use of gold metallic threads...

Chinese baluster vases in famille rose with nine peaches among flowers and vines with bats on a white ground. The symbols of peaches and bats together mean long life and happiness. The inside of each is glazed white, as well as the base. On each base is an overglazed stamped blue six character Qianlong mark.

This very nicely molded mid 20th century Guan-Yin statue is 9 5/8” high, 5 ¼” wide and 2 ½” thick. It depicts Guan-Yin holding a Ruyi seated on a lotus surrounded rock. A basket containing fish sits on her left side and three fish hold her right sleeve. The artist’s seal is on the back of her robe. Aside from a small chip from a fish tail, it is in great condition.

These mall sized ghurras are used to churn small quantity of milk when in summer pasture with sheep, the carving shows 4 separated poles joined with a rope knot and surmounted by 4 milk pots supporting a ram , very nice black patina with important signs of used, at least from mid 20th, from Rukkum district .
