Here's a pair of Thinbutted Danish Neolithic Axes dating to late 4th mill. BC.

Thinbutted axes were the preferred tool for clearing land, as the Neolithic civilisation came in the need of fields for cultivation.

Both axes in this pair are nice specimens from this development, and have probably contributed to gaining new ground for early Danish agriculture.

The axes measure 14 & 15 cm each, (c. 6 inches) but it is not unlikely that they were larger originally...

A quite rare stamp seal of a type with a large engraved in the base and a smaller seal engraving of the top of the high handle, Eastern Anatolia / Western Mesopotamia, Pre-halaf-Halaf period, c. 6th. mill. BC.

A large and attractive globular jar with twin handles and decorations on the upper part of the blackware vessel, Chimú c. 900-1400 AD.

Size: 18-19 cm. tall and 18-19 cm. wide.

Condition: Good Very fine, intact with two very small holes repaired.

19th century miniature Hirado porcelain sculpture of a reclining karako (Chinese boy) leaning on his right elbow. Excellent crisp modeling with incised details - see his superb dreamy face, well defined hands and clothing details. Beautiful glaze with numerous tiny bubbles giving it depth, unglazed bottom, in excellent condition (no chips, cracks or repairs), very pleasant to the touch. Typical Hirado underglaze blue and brown highlights. Length 2 3/16 inches.

Interesting and typical large specimen of broadbladed silex axes, imitating the celts of the early European bronzeage, made in South East Denmark, during Late Neolithic period, ca. 1800 BC.

The axe unpolished and with visible seams, typical grey-brown Danien silex of Lolland/Falster region and beautiful patina from 4000 years of buriel. Outswayed blade that looks the blade of a bronze celts.

A lovely Staffordshire pottery inkwell and quill holder in the form of a swan. The wings are painted vivid shades of pink with black and gilt accents. The bird rests on a colorful "confetti" nest. The hole in the swan's back served as the inkwell, while the two holes in the front were to hold quills. This swan is a particularly colorful example.

Origin: England, ca. 1840. Condition: excellent, no damage. Size: 3" x 2" x 3-1/4".

ntique Chinese embroidery on silk, gold thread depicting dragons, flaming pearls, birds, lions and scrolling designs, outer banks of silk in blue and grey, back is black material, appears to be cotton, 19th century or earlier. Measures 40' x 10". The center of the panel (it was made in 2 sections, joined at center) depicts birds in flight, next to them are foo lions in gold and white or silver thread, with large dragons next, all in bright gold thread, eyes of black and white...

19th century bronze Japanese sword tsuba with perforated design of Shoki the demon Queller threatening a terrified oni with a sword. Nicely made, pleasant dark patina, in great condition. Height 2.96 inches.

Excellent Staffordshire children's cup illustrating the letter "H". The blue transfer decoration shows the letter amidst scenery filled with "H" words--horse, house, hound and horn. The cup has very nice color and a thick bluish glaze typical of Staffordshire pottery.

Origin: England, circa 1850. Condition: very good, a tiny (1/8") flake at the top rim. Size: app. 3" diam., 3-1/8" high.

Fine lot of two early bronze figures, probably 18th. century or earlier.

Porcelain sardine box with a handle in the form of a realistically-painted sardine. The sides and lid of the box are decorated with pink roses. The bottom is marked "Victoria Austria."

Origin: Altrohlau, Bohemia, Austria (now Stara Role, Czech Republic), ca. 1891-1918. Condition: excellent, slight wear to gilding along edges of the lid. Size: 5-1/4" x 4-1/2" x 3".

This Victorian Staffordshire gilt white seated spaniel was made circa 1860-1890. Black nose,whiskers and eye detailing, yellow eyes. Vent hole to the reverse, good creamy glaze.

No restoration, no cracks. 9 1/2" high. gilt severely rubbed.

A beautiful small early ming dynasty (1368-1644)blue and white porcelain water dropper, very unusual shape and in excellent condition. H:4" $195

Late Qing Dynasty (1890s to 1911) Chinese jade seal of classic stele shape slightly tapering towards the top. First catalog photo includes the image of the printing surface flipped left to right to show what the imprint of the seal will look like. True nephrite jade of light celadon color with beautiful russet patches, very pleasant matte finish to the stone, very nice to handle...

An intact and attractive pottery bowl,9th.-10th. century AD.

The bowl decorated with in black pseudo-caligraphy in crossform on a beige ground.

Size: 21,5 cm. wide and 6,5 cm. tall.

Condition: Choice, with much original glaze, lightly restored, but difficult to spot.

Provenance: Important Danish-French Private collection, (aquired 1970- c. 2007) of Islamic pottery ware from the 9th.-12th. century. Comes with COA.

The seal carved with a symbol of animals with intertwinned necks and lines of pseudo cuneiform script.
