This ceramic tile was produced in the United States in the 1880s or 1890s. It is unmarked but it may have been produced at the Trent Tile Company of Trenton, New Jersey. It measures 18 inches long and is 6 1/2 inches wide. The tile is decorated in high relief with a classic Greek maiden. It is light green in color with a high gloss glaze. The figural rendering is fine, exemplifying expert artistic ability. Tiles of this size are uncommon and the subject matter is quite desirable...

A large ovoid Chinese Martavan (aka Martaban) jar from the 16th/17th century. (Martavan jars were produced in China's southern region and shipped, via the port of Martabanin present day Myanmar, to various neighboring countries as storage containers for various commodities...these storage vessels became prized possessions by the local peoples.) The jar has a lovely honey brown colored glaze with bold dragon relief motif and loop handles around the shoulder...

Pair of Korean late Joseon Dynasty square form wood wedding chests on fixed stands with metal loop handles on three sides. The lids open to reveal a nice sized storage space. A white brass rectangular plate is on the front and and holds a fish lock. Brass and white brass (nickel) hardware accents decorate the edges. Late 19th century. Each measures about 17 1/4" high x 18 1/4" wide x 17 1/2" deep. Very good overall condition with typical wear from use...

A rare ancient agate bead made for wearing as a pendent or necklace. These beads date back to over 2,000 years. They have some kind of tiger influence in their shape and stripes.. Size: 4cm X 1.5cm. Condition: Excellent.

A pair of antique Japanese Baku corbels hand caraved from solid Keyaki wood. Rare flaming mane design adds a dragon-like fear to wore off evil spirits. Used under the eaves of Japanese temples and shrines, they devour dreams and nightmares as they protect against evil. The open mouth Baku expels all evil while the closed mouth Baku retains the good spirit.

Antique Chinese shard box made of porcelain and silver. The porcelain lid has a charming scene of young boys playing in a courtyard. One boy looks down into a large basin that is cracked and a river of water pours out with a boy climbing out. Two boys are running towards an unknown destination. The boy in the center observes the unfolding scenes while he is watched by his companion. The box is made of silver. The outside has a beautiful floral design that has been hammered into it...

A pottery tradition that harkens from the Mino region of Japan, Shino-yaki dates from the Azuchi Momoyama period. It came into fashion when first commissioned by renowned Muromachi cha-jin (tea masters) Shino Soushin. A Creamware Basket and Stand Of oval form, the rim pierced with diamonds and hearts. Scrolling pierced shell shaped handles. Probably Shorthouse L18thC. Length of stand 10 1/2″ (26.6 cm). Condition; very good, small glaze bruise to rim of basket. Some firing speckling to underside of stand.
